2017 Quick Lane Bowl
The 2017 Quick Lane Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game, played at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, on December 26, 2017. The game featured the Duke Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Northern Illinois Huskies of the Mid-American Conference. The fourth annual Quick Lane Bowl, it was one of the 2017–18 bowl games that concluded the 2017 FBS football season. The game was sponsored by Quick Lane tire and auto centers. The 2017 Duke Blue Devils football team represented Duke University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in the Coastal Division. The 2017–18 NCAA football bowl games was a series of college football bowl games which completed the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The games began on December 16, 2017, and aside from the all-star games ended with the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship which was played on January 8, 2018. The total of 40 team-competitive bowls in FBS, including the national championship game, was one less than the previous year, with the folding of the Poinsettia Bowl. To fill the 78 available bowl slots, a total of 15 teams (19% of all participants) with non-winning (6–6) seasons participated in bowl games. This marks only the second time in seven years that no teams with losing seasons (6–7 or 5–7) had to be invited to fill available bowl berths. The Quick Lane Bowl is a post-season college football bowl game certified by the NCAA that began play in the 2014 season. Backed by the Detroit Lions of the National Football League, the game features a bowl-eligible team from the Big Ten Conference competing against an opponent from the Mid-American Conference. The Quick Lane Bowl is played at Ford Field in Detroit as a ''de facto'' replacement for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, and inherited its traditional December 26 scheduling.
