The 2017 Pac–12 Conference football season is the seventh for the twelve-team league. The season began on August 26, 2017, and ended with the Pac-12 Championship Game on December 1, 2017 at Levi's Stadium. Previous season Washington defeated Colorado 41–10 for the 2016 Pac-12 Football Championship Game. Six teams participated in bowl games. Stanford defeated North Carolina 25–23 in the Sun Bowl. Utah won over Indiana 26–24 at the Foster Farms Bowl. Washington State lost 12–17 to Minnesota in the Holiday Bowl. Colorado lost to Oklahoma State 8–38 in the Alamo Bowl. In the Rose Bowl, USC defeated Penn State 52–49. And in the College Football Playoff Semifinal Round, Washington lost to Alabama by a score of 7–24. The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. The FBS consists of the largest schools in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As of 2022, there are 10 conferences and 131 schools in FBS. College football is one of the most popular spectator sports throughout much of the United States. The top schools generate tens of millions of dollars in yearly revenue. 2017 Washington State Cougars Football Team
The 2017 Washington State Cougars football team represented Washington State University during the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by sixth-year head coach Mike Leach and played their home games at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington. They competed as members of the North Division of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 6–3 in Pac-12 play to finish in third place in the North Division. They were invited to the Holiday Bowl where they lost to Michigan State. The 2016 Foster Farms Bowl was an American college football bowl game played on December 28, 2016 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. It was one of the 2016–17 bowl games concluding the 2016 FBS football season. The 15th edition of the Foster Farms Bowl, the game featured the Utah Utes from the Pac-12 Conference against the Indiana Hoosiers from the Big Ten Conference. The 2016 Indiana Hoosiers football team represented Indiana University Bloomington during the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Hoosiers competed in the East Division of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana. They were led by head coach Kevin Wilson, who was in his sixth season, for twelve games. Levi's Stadium is an American football stadium located in Santa Clara, California, just outside San Jose in the San Francisco Bay Area.
