2017 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2017 Ohio Valley Conference baseball tournament will be held from May 24 through 28. The top six regular season finishers will meet in the double-elimination tournament, to be held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. The tournament champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Among current members, Austin Peay Governors baseball, Austin Peay has won the most championships, with six, while Belmont Bruins baseball, Belmont (joined in 2012), SIU Edwardsville Cougars baseball, SIU Edwardsville (joined in 2008),and Tennessee–Martin Skyhawks baseball, Tennessee–Martin (joined in 1992) have never won championships. Oxford, Alabama
Oxford is a city in Calhoun, Talladega, and Cleburne counties in the State of Alabama. The population was 22,069 at the 2020 census,. Oxford is one of two principal cities of and included in the Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area, and it is the largest city in Calhoun County by population. History Founded in the early 1850s, Oxford was the first city in Calhoun County to be incorporated, in 1852. Austin Peay Governors Baseball
The Austin Peay Governors are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Austin Peay State University (APSU), located in Clarksville, Tennessee, United States. The Governors athletic program is a member of the ASUN Conference. Prior to 2022 the Governors were members of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and competes at the NCAA Division I level including the Football Championship Subdivision. The Belmont Bruins baseball team (formerly the Belmont Rebels) is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. SIU Edwardsville Cougars Baseball
The SIU Edwardsville Cougars baseball team represents Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in NCAA Division I college baseball. They compete as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. SIUE plays its home games at Roy E. Lee Field at Simmons Baseball Complex, located in the northwest corner of the campus. History The Cougars baseball program was started in 1967–68 by Roy Lee, who headed it for its first eleven years. In that time, his teams built a record of 237–144–3, going to 8 consecutive NCAA Division II playoffs and 3 Division II College World Series, with a runner-up finish in 1976. After Coach Lee's retirement, the program was led for 34 years by SIUE alumnus Gary Collins. Collins' teams won 1028 games (with 766 loses & 7 ties). Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament
The Ohio Valley Conference baseball tournament is the conference baseball championship of the NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I Ohio Valley Conference. In the current format, established in 2023, the top eight regular-season finishers of the conference's 10 baseball schools qualify for the tournament. The bottom four seeds play single-elimination games, paired by seeds as 5–8 and 6–7. The winners of those games advance to single-elimination games, with the 3 and 4 seeds respectively playing the lower and higher seeds among the first-round winners. At this point, the top two seeds join, and the tournament becomes double-elimination. The most recent 2023 edition was held at the venue now known as Rent One Park, Marion Stadium in Marion, Illinois.
