2017 New Zealand Budget
The New Zealand budget for fiscal year 2017/18 was presented to the New Zealand House of Representatives by Finance Minister Steven Joyce on 25 May 2017. It was the ninth budget of the Fifth National Government, and the first presented by Joyce in his role as Minister of Finance. This was the last budget presented by the Fifth National government which was defeated at the 2017 general election. Steven Joyce
Steven Leonard Joyce (born 7 April 1963) is a New Zealand former politician, who entered the New Zealand House of Representatives in 2008 as a member of the New Zealand National Party. In the same year he became Minister of Transport and Minister for Communications and Information Technology. He later became Minister of Science and Innovation, and then served as Minister for Finance and Minister for Infrastructure. As a broadcasting entrepreneur with RadioWorks, he was a millionaire before he entered politics. On 6 March 2018, he announced his resignation from politics, after losing his bid for the leadership of the party. Early life Joyce's parents worked as grocers. He went to school at Francis Douglas Memorial College, before enrolling at Massey University, applying to study veterinary science. Andrew James Little (born 7 May 1965) is a New Zealand politician and former trade union official, currently serving as Minister of Health and Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations. In New Zealand, the Leader of the Opposition (or Opposition leader) is a senior politician who leads the Official Opposition. The Leader of the Opposition is, by convention, the leader of the largest political party in the House of Representatives that is not in government (nor provides confidence and supply). This is usually the parliamentary leader of the second-largest caucus in the House of Representatives. The Pharmaceutical Management Agency (Māori: ''Te Pātaka Whaioranga''), better known as Pharmac, is a New Zealand Crown entity that decides, on behalf of Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, which medicines and pharmaceutical products are subsidised for use in the community and public hospitals. Pharmac was created in 1993 as a response to the ever-increasing costs of pharmaceuticals. The agency's primary aim is "to secure for eligible people in need of pharmaceuticals, the best health outcomes that are reasonably achievable from pharmaceutical treatment and from within the amount of funding provided." City Rail Link
The City Rail Link (CRL) is a rail project currently under construction in Auckland, New Zealand. The project consists of a 3.5 km long double-track rail tunnel underneath Auckland's city centre, between Britomart Transport Centre and Mount Eden railway station. Two new underground stations will be constructed to serve the city centre: Te Waihorotiu near Aotea Square and Karanga-a-Hape near Karangahape Road. Britomart will be converted from a terminus station into a through station and Mount Eden station will be completely rebuilt with four platforms to serve as an interchange between the new CRL line and the existing Western Line.
