New York City Football Club is an American professional soccer club based in New York City that competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), the highest level of American soccer, as a member of the league's Eastern Conference. The club is co-owned by City Football Group, which also owns the English soccer club Manchester City, and Yankee Global Enterprises, owners of the New York Yankees. New York City played its first league game in the 2015 MLS season, as the twentieth expansion team of the league; it is the first franchise based in the city, and the second in the New York metropolitan area, after the New York Red Bulls, with whom they contest the Hudson River Derby. New York Red Bulls
The New York Red Bulls are an American professional soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The club was established in October 1994 and began play in the league's inaugural season in 1996 as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. In 2006, the team was sold to Red Bull GmbH and re-branded as part of the company's global network of soccer clubs, hence its current name. Benjamin Sweat (born September 4, 1991) is an American professional Association football, soccer player who plays as a Defender (association football), left-back for Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City. Career Youth and college Sweat played soccer at Palm Harbor University High School and then went on to play college soccer at the University of South Florida between 2010 and 2013. Sweat still holds the record for most appearances in matches at South Florida. While at college, Sweat also appeared for USL PDL clubs VSI Tampa Bay FC (PDL), VSI Tampa Bay and Reading United AC. Eirik Holmen Johansen (born 12 July 1992) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Brann. Johansen played for Teie IF in his native Norway before joining the Manchester City Academy system at the age of 16. Johansen has represented Norway at youth international level. Wilmington Hammerheads FC was a semi-professional American soccer team based in Wilmington, North Carolina. Founded in 1996, the team last competed in the Premier Development League, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid in 2017. History The Hammerheads had one championship in 2003, and were a finalist in 2002 and 2012, losing to the Long Island Rough Riders 2–1 in 2002 and losing 0–1 to the Charleston Battery in 2012. Andre Rawls (born December 20, 1991) is an American soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper. Career College Rawls spent his entire college career at Saint Mary's College, including a red-shirted year in 2010. Rawls was named the WCC goalkeeper of the year in 2014 and earned first team all-Far West Region honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He set a program record for career goals-against average at 0.98 and registered 25 career wins and 17 shut-outs. Sean Everet Johnson (born May 31, 1989) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Toronto FC and the United States national team. Career College and amateur Johnson grew up in Lilburn, Georgia where he attended Brookwood High School. For a brief period he attended school in California where he played for his high school in Los Angeles County. He would graduate from there in 2005.
