2017 Mid-Season Invitational
The 2017 Mid-Season Invitational was the third annual Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) - a tournament for the MOBA video game ''League of Legends'' was hosted by Riot Games. The tournament was held from April 28 to May 21, 2017, in Brazil. This was the first time MSI had been extended. Each of 13 premier League of Legends leagues had a team that won the Spring Split represent them; Europe (EU LCS), South Korea (LCK), and China ( LPL) had their teams automatically admitted into the main event whereas the other 10 leagues competed among each other in a "Play-in Stage" with the top 3 teams advancing to join the main event. Jeunesse Arena is an indoor multi-purpose arena, located in the region of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. ''League of Legends'' Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary competition for ''League of Legends'' esports in South Korea. Contested by ten teams, the league runs two seasons per year and serves as a direct route to qualification for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. The LCK is administered in cooperation between Riot Games and KeSPA. The league was formerly named ''League of Legends'' Champions before undergoing a major restructuring in late 2014, which saw a change in the competition's format and a rebranding to its current name. Dennis Johnsen (born January 2, 1996), better known as Svenskeren, is a Danish former professional ''League of Legends'' player. He has played for SK Gaming, Supa Hot Crew, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Copenhagen Wolves, Team SoloMid, Cloud9, and Evil Geniuses. During the 2014 League of Legends World Championship group stage in Taiwan, Svenskeren registered an account by the name TaipeiChingChong on the Garena servers and was subsequently fined and suspended by Riot Games for racism. Kevin Yarnell, better known by his in-game name Hauntzer, is a professional ''League of Legends'' player who is currently a free agent, and was most recently a part of TSM Academy as their toplaner. He has also played for Team SoloMid, Golden Guardians, and Gravity Gaming in the League of Legends Championship Series. Career Curse Academy left Team Curse and rebranded as Gravity Gaming in January 2015 upon qualifying for the LCS. Alfonso Aguirre Rodríguez, better known as Mithy, is a Spanish former professional ''League of Legends'' player, and current assistant coach for 100 Thieves. He joined Ninjas in Pyjamas in October 2013. He joined G2 on May 19, 2016, ahead of the 2016 Summer EU LCS split. He then joined Team SoloMid in 2018. Luka Perković (born 30 September 1998), better known as Perkz (previously stylized as PERKZ and before that as PerkZ), is a Croatian professional ''League of Legends'' player for Team Vitality.
