2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball tournament was held from May 24 through 28. The top six regular season finishers of the league's eleven teams met in the double-elimination tournament to be held at Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls, New York. won their sixth tournament championship and earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Seeding The top six teams were seeded one through six based on their conference winning percentage. They then played a double-elimination tournament. Results All-Tournament Team The following players were named to the All-Tournament Team. Most Valuable Player Tony Romanelli, a junior pitcher for Marist, was named Tournament Most Valuable Player. Chris Tracz
Chris Tracz (born March 24, 1982) is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Army Black Knights. He played college baseball for Marist from 2001 to 2005. He served as the head coach of the Marist Red Foxes (2010–2022). Playing career Tracz was a pitcher for Marist from 2001 to 2005, helping the Red Foxes to reach three NCAA tournaments and serving as a captain for his final three seasons. In 2002 and 2003, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Coaching career Tracz began his coaching career as an assistant with the Red Foxes, serving as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. He spent one season as an assistant with Army before returning to Marist as head coach. In July 2011, Tracz was inducted into the North Branford High School Hall of Fame. Marist Red Foxes Baseball
The Marist Red Foxes baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. The team is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at James J. McCann Baseball Field in Poughkeepsie, New York. Baseball was added to the Marist Athletic Department in the fall of 1990 and their inaugural season was 1991. The Red Foxes are coached by Lance Ratchford. Postseason history The program has appeared in six NCAA Division I Baseball Championships, as of the end of the 2013 season. Sal Maglie Stadium
Sal Maglie Stadium is a stadium in Niagara Falls, New York. It is primarily used for baseball and is currently home of the Niagara Power ( PGCBL) baseball team. The ballpark has a capacity of 4,000 people and opened in 1939. Its original name was simply Hyde Park Stadium, and was originally designed primarily for football. It was adapted for baseball in the 1950s and was rebuilt as a proper baseball facility in 1999. In mid-season 1983 it was renamed for Niagara Falls native and former major league player Sal Maglie, who played college ball for Niagara. Niagara Falls is a City (New York), city in Niagara County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the city had a total population of 48,671.
