2017 Men's Australian Hockey League
The 2017 Men's Australian Hockey League was 27th edition of the men's Australian Hockey League. The tournament was held between 28 September and 8 October 2017, in Perth, Western Australia. A total of 10 teams competed for the title. Like the 2016 edition, invitational teams from India and New Zealand competed in the tournament. The VIC Vikings won the tournament for the fourth time and the second year in a row, following a 3–0 penalty shoot-out win over the QLD Blades after the final finished a 1–1 draw. The NSW Waratahs won the bronze medal after defeating the India Development side 3–2 in the third place match. Competition format Teams were split evenly into pools A and B where they compete in a single round-robin format. At the conclusion of the initial pool stage, the top two teams in each pool progress to the medal playoffs in Pool C, while the remaining six teams progress to the classification matches in Pool D. The Roar is an Australian sports opinion website. It was established by brothers Zac and Zolton Zavos in late 2006. Joshua William Pollard (born 20 October 1988) is a field hockey player from Australia. Career Club In the Hockey Victoria competition, before his move to Perth to join the Hockey Australia High Performance Program, Pollard played club hockey for Greensborough Hockey Club in Melbourne. Tassie Tigers
Tassie Tigers is an Australia, Australian field hockey club based in Hobart, Tasmania. The club joined the Australian Hockey League in 1992 as a men's team. In 2019, the Tassie Tigers expanded to encompass both Tasmanian men's and women's teams, Tassie Van Demons, as one of 7 clubs to compete in Hockey Australia's new premier domestic competition, Hockey One. The 2016 Men's Australian Hockey League was the 26th edition of the Australian Hockey League men's Field Hockey tournament. The tournament was held in the Western Australia city of Perth. For the first time, the Australian Hockey League hosted international teams from India, Malaysia and New Zealand. Perth Thundersticks is an Australian field hockey club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was established in 1991 as a men's only team competing in the Australian Hockey League before expanding to include women's teams, WA Diamonds, under the same banner as part of the 7 clubs to compete in Hockey Australia's new premier domestic competition, Hockey One.
