2017 Las Vegas Bowl
The 2017 Las Vegas Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 16, 2017, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Whitney, Nevada. The twenty-sixth annual Las Vegas Bowl was one of the 2017–18 bowl games that concludes the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The game aired on ABC. Team selection The game featured teams from the Mountain West Conference and Pac-12 Conference. The representative from Mountain West was Boise State, who qualified for the bowl by winning the 2017 Mountain West Conference Football Championship Game. The Pac-12 representative was Oregon. This was Boise State's fourth trip to the Las Vegas Bowl, while it was Oregon's third. This was the third meeting between the schools, with Boise State having won both previous meeting. The most recent prior meeting was on September 3, 2009, when the Broncos defeated the Ducks by a score of 19–8. Sam Boyd Stadium (formerly the Las Vegas Silver Bowl) is a football stadium in the western United States, located in Whitney, Nevada, an unincorporated community in the Las Vegas Valley. It honors Sam Boyd (1910–1993), a major figure in the hotel and casino industry in Las Vegas. The stadium consisted of an uncovered horseshoe-shaped single-decked bowl, with temporary seating occasionally erected in the open north end zone. The artificial turf field had a conventional north–south orientation, at an elevation of above sea level. It was the home field of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels for 49 seasons, from 1971 through 2019; they moved to the new Allegiant Stadium in 2020. The 2017 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University during the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Dillon Mitchell (born May 16, 1997) is an American professional gridiron football wide receiver for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The 2017 Fresno State Bulldogs football team represented California State University, Fresno in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bulldogs were led by first-year head coach Jeff Tedford and played their home games at Bulldog Stadium as a member of the Mountain West Conference in the West Division. 2009 Oregon Ducks Football Team
The 2009 Oregon Ducks football team represented the University of Oregon in the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by head coach Chip Kelly in his first season as a head coach at the Division I FBS level.
