2017 King Cup
The 2017 King Cup, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 42nd edition of the King Cup since its establishment in 1957, and the 10th under the current format. It started on 18 January and concluded with the final on 18 May 2017. The winner qualifies for the 2018 AFC Champions League group stage. Al-Hilal won their eighth title after a 3–2 win over defending champions Al-Ahli in the final on 18 May 2017. The winner of the King Cup earns automatic qualification to the 2018 AFC Champions League group stage. However, as Al-Hilal qualified for the AFC Champions League via winning the league, Al-Nassr, the highest placed team in the 2016–17 Saudi Professional League not already qualified took the group stage spot. Kings Cup (Saudi Arabia)
The King Cup (sometimes spelled King's), officially known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup ( ar, كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين), is the Saudi Arabian football knockout cup competition, run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The cup was created in 1957 and was played until 1990. It was re-launched again in 2007 as ''King's Cup of Champions'', and was played by only the top 6 finishers of the Professional League plus the Crown Prince Cup and Federation Cup winners. Since 2014, it was renamed as ''King's Cup'', the competition returned to its roots by implementing the old format. 153 clubs have taken part in the tournament. Al-Jeel Club () is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Hofuf, Al-Hasa. Founded in 1976, the club competes in the MS League , the second tier of Saudi football. Al Fayha FC () is a professional football club based in Al Majma'ah, that plays in the Saudi Professional League, the first tier of Saudi Football. It was founded in 1953. The First Division League (FDL for short), also called the Yelo league for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of professional football in Saudi Arabia. The First Division League is ranked below the Saudi Professional League and above the Saudi Second Division in the Saudi Arabian football league system.
