2017 Jacksonville Sharks Season
The 2017 Jacksonville Sharks season was the eighth season for the professional indoor football franchise and first in the National Arena League (NAL). The Sharks were one of eight teams that competed in the NAL for its inaugural 2017 season The Sharks played their home games at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Led by head coach Mark Stoute, the Sharks went undefeated through eight games and then Stoute was fired. Siaha Burley was immediately hired as his replacement after serving as the offensive coordinator of the Arena Football League's Cleveland Gladiators. Siaha Burley
Siaha Burley (born July 16, 1977) is an American former arena football wide receiver and former head coach. He played college football at UCF Knights football, UCF and was also the head coach of the Jacksonville Sharks from 2017 to 2019 before returning to the team for 2022. High school years Burley attended Westwood High School (Mesa, Arizona), Westwood High School in Mesa and was a Varsity letter, letterman in High school football, football, basketball, and Track and field, track. In football, as a Twelfth grade, senior, he was an All-City and an All-State selection as a wide receiver and as a defensive back. College career Before Burley transferred from Mesa Community College to the University of Central Florida where he played football, he played in the Arizona Football League. 2017 Dayton Wolfpack Season
The Dayton Wolfpack were a professional indoor football team and a charter member of the National Arena League (NAL) in its inaugural 2017 season. Originally to be based in Dayton, Ohio, the Wolfpack had announced their home venue as the Nutter Center but apparently failed to reach a lease agreement. The Wolfpack were then listed as a traveling team by the NAL. American Bank Center
The American Bank Center is an entertainment complex located in Corpus Christi, Texas. The complex consists of an auditorium, convention center and arena. The facility hosts numerous conventions, trade shows, exhibitions, live performances and sporting events. The Corpus Christi Rage was a professional indoor football team and a charter member of the National Arena League (NAL) that began play in its inaugural 2017 season. Based in Corpus Christi, Texas, the Rage played their home games at the American Bank Center. The Rage were the third arena/indoor football team to call Corpus Christi home, following the Corpus Christi Hammerheads/Fury, which played in eight different leagues from 2004 until 2016, and the Corpus Christi Sharks, which played in the af2 from 2007 until 2009. The Monterrey Steel was a professional indoor football team and a charter member of the National Arena League (NAL) that played in the 2017 season. Based in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, the Steel played their home games at Arena Monterrey. The 2017 Georgia Firebirds season was the second season for the professional indoor football franchise and first in the National Arena League (NAL). The Firebirds were one of eight teams that competed in the NAL for its inaugural 2017 season Led by head coach Antwone Savage, the Firebirds played their home games at the Albany Civic Center. In May 2017, the league apparently took over operations of the Firebirds for the remainder of the season. As a result, the league cancelled the Firebirds' away game at the Corpus Christi Rage (another team the league was operating) as a cost-cutting measure. Columbus Civic Center is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Columbus, Georgia, built in 1996. History The arena was built in 1996, along with a Softball Complex, to fully complete South Commons (an area consisting of a baseball and football stadium, and a skateboard park). The venue replaced the Municipal Auditorium, which was constructed in 1955.
