2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championship
The 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championship was a long distance triathlon competition held on September 9–10, 2017 in Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Tennessee that was won by Francisco Javier Gómez Noya, Javier Gomez of Spain and Daniela Ryf of Switzerland. The championship was organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) and it marked the first time the race was held on two separate days, splitting the days of competition between male and female competitors. For Ryf it was her third Ironman 70.3 World Championship win. This was Gomez's second 70.3 championship win having won also in 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship, 2014. Ironman World Championship
The Ironman World Championship has been held annually in Hawaii since 1978, with an additional race in 1982. It is owned and organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. It is the annual culmination of a series of Ironman triathlon qualification races held throughout the world. Melissa Hauschildt (''née'' Rollison, born 13 April 1983 in Adelaide) is an Australian professional triathlete and former middle-distance runner. She is a 3-time World Champion, winning Gold at the 2011 and 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championship as well as the 2013 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships. She also won Silver at the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Heather Wurtele (née Danforth, born July 12, 1979) is a retired Canadian professional triathlete who raced long-distance, non-drafting triathlon events. Annabel Luxford (born 2 March 1982) is an Australian triathlete. In International Triathlon Union (ITU) competition she is the 2005 ITU Triathlon World Cup series champion and the silver medalist at the 2005 ITU Triathlon World Championships. In 2004, she was the ITU under-23 World Champion and also finished second in the ITU Triathlon World Cup standings. Helle Frederiksen (born 5 March 1981 in Odense, Funen) is a Danish professional triathlete. She represented Denmark in triathlon at the 2012 Summer Olympics, placing 27th, and raced on International Triathlon Union race circuit.
