2017 Indiana State Sycamores Football Team
The 2017 Indiana State Sycamores football team represented Indiana State University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They played their home games at Memorial Stadium as a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. They finished the season 0–11, 0–8 in MVFC play to finish in last place. Prior to the season, on January 23, 2017, Curt Mallory was hired as the 21st head coach in program history. He was previously the defensive backs coach and pass defense coordinator at Wyoming. Curt Mallory
Curtiss Sweeney Mallory (born May 9, 1969) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the head coach at Indiana State. He has been a college football coach since 1995 and has held defensive coordinator positions at the University of Illinois and the University of Akron. Mallory had most recently been the defensive secondary coach at the University of Wyoming; he played college football for the Michigan Wolverines as a linebacker from 1989 to 1990. Early years Mallory is the youngest son of former Indiana Hoosiers football coach Bill Mallory. He played high school football at Bloomington South High School. He was a starter at linebacker starting with the last game of his freshman year at Bloomington South. Vermillion, South Dakota
Vermillion ( lkt, Waséoyuze; "The Place Where Vermilion is Obtained") is a city in and the county seat of Clay County. DakotaDome
The DakotaDome is an indoor multi-purpose stadium in the north central United States, located on the campus of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. Opened in 1979 at a cost of $8.2 million, the 9,100-seat venue is the home of the South Dakota Coyotes for football, swimming and diving, and track and field. The approximate elevation is above sea level. The DakotaDome was also the home site for the NAIA school Briar Cliff University football team from 2013 until 2017, when they re-located 25 miles to the southeast to Sioux City, Iowa, which is where their campus is located. The Dome hosts other events throughout the year, including the high school football state championships each November. They were led by second-year head coach Bob Nielson and played their home games in the DakotaDome. They were a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Hancock Stadium is a 13,391-seat multi-purpose stadium in Normal, Illinois. It opened in 1963. It is home to the Illinois State University Redbirds football team as well as University High School. Central Catholic High School also played its games there through the 2004 season. History Opened in 1963 and named after Illinois State's former athletic director Dr. Howard Hancock. In 1969, Hancock Stadium became Illinois' first college stadium that featured artificial turf as its playing surface.
