The 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship was the 19th IIHF World U18 Championship and was hosted by Poprad and Spišská Nová Ves, Slovakia. The tournament was played from 13 to 23 April 2017. Finland entered the tournament as the defending champions and once again advanced to the final, but this time they lost to the United States. Top Division ''All times are local. Kristian Vesalainen
Kristian Vesalainen (born 1 June 1999) is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward HIFK of the Finnish Liiga. Vesalainen was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, 24th overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Vesalainen originally played as a youth in his native Finland, appearing up to the Junior A level with HIFK before opting to continue his development in Sweden with Frölunda HC on 27 August 2015. Vesalainen made his professional debut at the senior level with Frölunda in the Swedish Hockey League during the 2015–16 season. After an initial loan period to return to Finland during the 2016–17 season with HPK of the Liiga, Vesalainen made his move permanent in agreeing to a one-year deal with HPK on 28 April 2017. Maxime Comtois (born January 8, 1999) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Comtois was drafted by the Victoriaville Tigres third overall in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft. On June 24, 2017, Comtois was selected in the second round, 50th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ducks on March 3, 2018. Comtois made the Ducks' 2018 opening night roster out of training camp. Martin Fehérváry (born 6 October 1999) is a Slovak professional ice hockey defenceman for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). Growing up in Bratislava, Slovakia, Fehérváry began playing for the SHKM Hodonín club, Svišť Bratislava U18 team, and attended Svišt Hockey School, which was founded by his family. He left his home country at the age of 15 to play with the Malmö Redhawks organization in Sweden. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (born 9 March 1999) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). Juraj Sklenár (ice Hockey)
Juraj Sklenár (Georgius Szklenár; 25 February 1745 – 30 January 1790) was a Slovak historian, pedagogue and Catholic priest. Life He was born in Tiba, a manor-house near Levoča. Sklenár entered the Jesuits as a novice in 1764 and become a doctor of philosophy. He worked in Levoča, Trnava, Prešov and Košice. After the abolition of the Jesuit order, he worked as a professor of rhetoric and deputy director at main royal grammar school in Pressburg (today's Bratislava). Poprad Ice Stadium (Slovak: ''Zimný štadión mesta Poprad'') is an arena in Poprad, Slovakia. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home ice of HK Poprad (playing in the Slovak Extraliga).
