2017 IFA Shield
The 2017 IFA Shield was the 121st edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament was designed as a U19 youth football tournament since 2015.That year, ten football clubs participated in final round. FC Pune City beat Mohun Bagan A.C. in final by 3–0 on 11 June 2017 to clinch their first IFA Shield title. Venue All the matches were held at East Bengal Ground, Mohun Bagan Ground, Mohammedan Sporting Ground and Howrah Maidan. Qualifying round 16 teams participated in the qualifying round and Pathachakra FC qualified to final round. Pathachakra defeated Kolkata XI by 1-1, (Pen 4-2) to enter the final round. FC Pune City Youth
FC Pune City (R) was FC Pune City's reserve team that participanted in the I-League 2nd Division. FC Pune City Academy was the youth setup of FC Pune City. They participated in Youth League U18 and U15, as well as Pune Football League. History Formation On 26 August 2016, it was announced that FC Pune City had purchased the Pune F.C. Academy and rebranded it under their name. 2016 IFA Shield
The 2016 IFA Shield (officially known as the LG IFA Shield 2016 for sponsorship reasons) was the 120th edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament is designed as a U19 youth football tournament since 2015. This year ten football clubs going to participate including two overseas football clubs. The winners of LG IFA Shield was awarded with an amount of 5 Lakhs, while the second seeded team will get an amount of 3 Lakhs. The tournament was managed by Ekalavya Sports Foundation, run by former international Kalyan Chaubey and other TFA graduates. Tata Football Academy became the champions of the tournament by beating AIFF Elite Academy on 6 March 2016 which was played at Mohun Bagan Ground. The score was even 2–2 during the regulation time. After extra time match ended 3–2 in the favour of Tata Football Academy. Shubham Ghosh was awarded the man of the match and Baoringdao Bodo player of the tournament. Venue All the matches were held at Barasat Stadium, East Bengal Ground, Mohun Bagan Ground and Howrah Stadium. Qualifying round 14 teams participated in the qualifying round and Bengal Football Academy as the winners of qualifiers. The IFA Shield is an annual football competition organized by the Indian Football Association. The IFA is the governing body of football in the state of West Bengal, came into existence in 1893. Named after the association, the IFA Shield tournament was started in the same year. It is the third oldest football tournament in India, after Durand Cup and Trades Cup, and the one of the oldest football competitions in the world. The royal houses of Patiala and Cooch Behar, A.A. Apcar of Armenian Club and J Sutherland of Dalhousie AC had financially contributed for the inception of the Shield. The coveted shield was designed by Walter Locke & Co. (Calcutta) and constructed by Messrs Elkington & Co. (London). East Bengal Ground
The East Bengal Ground, also known as East Bengal–Aryan Ground, is the home stadium of East Bengal and Aryan. The stadium has a capacity of 23,500 people. It is one of the venues for Calcutta Football League. The stadium lies in the Kolkata Maidan area on the northern side of Fort William and it is near the Eden Gardens. Mohun Bagan Ground, also known as Mohun Bagan–Calcutta FC Ground, is a football stadium located in the maidan region of central Kolkata, just opposite the Eden Gardens.
