The men's 4 × 100 metres relay at the 2017 IAAF World Relays was held at the Thomas Robinson Stadium on 2 May. From the gun in the final, American Leshon Collins got some separation from Canada's Akeem Haynes. Also gaining an advantage on the stagger was Chijindu Ujah, the British leadoff as the gap to China's Tang Xingqiang and Barbados' Mario Burke shrunk. Down the backstretch, Britain's Zharnel Hughes and American Mike Rodgers didn't gain against China's Xie Zhenye, who gained a step on Ramon Gittens to his outside. The second Canadian exchange between Aaron Brown and Brendon Rodney was an adventure, with Rodney hopping up and down leaving the zone without the baton. Thomas Robinson Stadium
Thomas Robinson Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. The largest stadium in the country, it is currently used mostly for soccer matches. The stadium currently has a capacity of 15,000 people, but has the ability to be expanded to hold 23,000 people. The stadium is also the home of the NCAA Division I College Football (American football) bowl game the Bahamas Bowl. The stadium is named after Thomas A. 4 × 100 Metres Relay
The 4 × 100 metres relay or sprint relay is an athletics track event run in lanes over one lap of the track with four runners completing 100 metres each. The first runners must begin in the same stagger as for the individual 400 m race. Each runner carries a relay baton. Before 2018, the baton had to be passed within a 20 m changeover box, preceded by a 10-metre acceleration zone. With a rule change effective November 1, 2017, that zone was modified to include the acceleration zone as part of the passing zone, making the entire zone 30 metres in length. The outgoing runner cannot touch the baton until it has entered the zone, and the incoming runner cannot touch it after it has left the zone. The zone is usually marked in yellow, frequently using lines, triangles or chevrons. While the rule book specifies the exact positioning of the marks, the colours and style are only "recommended". The men's 4 × 100 metres relay was the shorter of the two men's relays on the Athletics at the 1964 Summer Olympics program in Tokyo. It was held on 20 October and 21 October 1964. 21 teams, for a total of 85 athletes, from 21 nations competed, with 1 team of 4 not starting in the first round. The first round and the semifinals were held on 20 October with the final on 21 October. The traditionally strong American team was weakened by the injuries to Mel Pender and Trent Jackson. The defending champions United Team of Germany (with no returning members) failed to get out of the semi-finals. Daniel Talbot (athlete)
Danny Talbot (born 1 May 1991) is a retired British sprinter who competed in the 100 metres and the 200 metres. Career Talbot won the 200m bronze medal at the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki. For Team GB in the 4 × 100 m at the London 2012 Olympics, he ran the third leg in the heats but failed to exchange the baton with anchor Adam Gemili. He ran again for Britain in the 4 x 100 at the 2014 World Relay Championships, forming part of a quartet which ran 37.93 in the heats and went on to win bronze. At the IAAF World Championships held in London in 2017, Talbot qualified for the 200 metres semifinal with a personal best of 20.16 in his heat on 7 August. Brendon Rodney
Brendon Rodney (born 9 April 1992) is a Canadian sprinter. As a member of the Canadian men's relay team, he is a two-time Olympic medallist in the 4 × 100 metres relay, taking silver in 2020 and bronze in 2016. Aaron Brown (born 27 May 1992) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. As part of Canada's 4×100 m relay team, he is a two-time Olympic medallist at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, and the 2022 World champion.
