The 2017 German motorcycle Grand Prix was the ninth round of the 2017 MotoGP season. It was held at the Sachsenring in Hohenstein-Ernstthal on 2 July 2017. Classification MotoGP * Héctor Barberá was disqualified for ignoring a jump start ride-through penalty. Moto2 * Axel Pons crashed during Sunday morning warm-up session and was ruled out of the race. * Luca Marini withdrew from the event citing left shoulder pain which he originally sustained in a crash during French GP. Moto3 * Jorge Martín suffered a broken ankle in a crash during free practice and withdrew from the event. Bradley Smith (motorcyclist)
Bradley Smith (born 28 November 1990) is a British occasional motorcycle racer who for 2022 is linked to RNF E-Racing in MotoE. He was injured shortly after a Le Mans start when he was the opening rider team for Moto Ain Yamaha, at an FIM Endurance World Championship event in April 2022. He missed the opening three rounds of the MotoE racing season, being declared unfit to race at the third round at Mugello on 29 May 2022. Late in 2022, Smith was called-in to ride as a rookie in the World Supersport Championship class, to replace injured Leonardo Taccini. Smith finished 14th after a three-place penalty in the first race at Circuito San Juan Villicum (Argentina), but was taken out when Luca Bernadi crashed into the rear of his Ten Kate Yamaha R6 at turn one early in the second race. Pol Espargaró Villà (born 10 June 1991) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer who for 2023 will ride in the MotoGP class for the newly named GasGas Factory Racing team, a development of Tech3. He previously spent two years with Repsol Honda. Pol is the younger brother of fellow MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaró, and is best known for winning the 2013 Moto2 World Championship. This earned him a move to Monster Yamaha Tech3 in 2014 but had 3 largely unsuccessful seasons failing to score a single podium. Danilo Carlo Petrucci (born 24 October 1990) is an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle racer who has competed in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship with Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati New York. After losing his KTM ride in MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season, he entered the 2022 Dakar Rally with a Tech3 KTM rally raid 450 cc machine in January 2022. For most of 2022, Petrucci was based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, U.S., riding a Ducati Panigale V4R in the AMA Superbike Championship series, finishing second at the last event in September. In November of that same year it was announced that Petrucci would return to the Barni Ducati team, this time in the Superbike World Championship. Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero (; born 4 May 1987) is a Spanish former professional motorcycle racer. He is a five-time World Champion, with three MotoGP World Championships (, and ) and two 250cc World Championships ( and ).
