2017 French Road Cycling Cup
The 2017 French Road Cycling Cup was the 26th edition of the French Road Cycling Cup. Compared to the previous season, the same 16 events were part of the cup with the exception of Cholet-Pays de Loire, which was not held due to a dispute between the race organiser and the mayor of Cholet. The defending champion from the previous season was Samuel Dumoulin. The 2017 edition was won by Laurent Pichon, who took the lead already after the second event and kept it until the end. French Road Cycling Cup
The French Road Cycling Cup (English for Coupe de France de cyclisme sur route) is a road bicycle racing competition under the Fédération Francaise de Cyclisme (French Cycling Federation) each year since 1992. It consists of a number of one-day races in France each year. Each of these races is open for all riders, but until 2015 only French riders and riders who were part of a French team were able to score points for the French Road Cycling Cup. As of 2016, all riders score points. The team competition remains a contest between the French teams only. Points system For the individual rankings, points are awarded to all eligible riders each race according to the following table: Each race, the positions of the first three riders of each French team are added to give the team position. Damien Gaudin (born 20 August 1986 in Beaupréau) is a French former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional from 2008 to 2021. He competed for France at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Gaudin left at the end of the 2013 season, and joined for the 2014 season. He was named in the start list for the 2015 Tour de France and won two combativity awards in the 2018 Tour de France. Christophe Laporte
Christophe Laporte (born 11 December 1992 in La Seyne-sur-Mer) is a French cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Laporte was a member of from 2014 to 2021. He was named in the Team Cofidis start list for the Tour de France for seven consecutive years between 2015 and 2021, completing all but one of them. In 2022 he joined Jumbo-Visma, among the most powerful teams in cycling, and in his first major stage race with the team led the podium sweep with Primož Roglič and Wout Van Aert on stage 1 of Paris–Nice. In the 2022 Tour de France, he was a key teammate of leader Jonas Vingegaard, was instrumental in helping the team win three different jerseys, and also won stage 19 at Cahors.
