2017 Ferrari Challenge Europe
The 2017 Ferrari Challenge Europe is the 24th season of Ferrari Challenge Europe. The season consisted of 7 rounds, starting at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo on May 20 and ending at the Mugello Circuit on October 28. Fabienne Wohlwend became the first woman to win any Ferrari Challenge race in class or outright with her victory in the second Coppa Shell race at Imola. Autodromo Enzo E Dino Ferrari
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, better known as Imola, is a motor racing circuit in the town of Imola, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, east of Bologna. It is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction. The circuit is named after Ferrari's late founder, Enzo Ferrari (1898–1988), and his son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari (1932–1956). Before Enzo's death, it was called Autodromo Dino Ferrari. The circuit has an FIA Grade One licence. Imola was the venue for the San Marino Grand Prix between 1981 and 2006. During this period, two Grands Prix were held in Italy every year, with the Italian Grand Prix taking place at Monza, so the Imola race was named after the nearby state. Imola also hosted the 1980 Italian Grand Prix in place of Monza. Christophe Hurni (born 1 December 1962, Switzerland) is a Swiss racing driver. Biography Hurni started racing at 21, competing in the '' Volant Elf'' talent search at Circuit Paul Ricard in 1983 and making the finals alongside Jean Alesi and eventual winner Éric Bernard. After a short stint in karting he moved into Formula 3, contesting mainly the Swiss championship but also various events across Europe (most notably in Monaco). Manuela Gostner (born 19 May 1984 in Bolzano) is a racing driver from Italy. Biography A member of the Gostner family synonymous with Ferrari Challenge competition, Manuela entered the European championship with encouragement from her brother David at the end of the 2014 season. She became a regular name in the amateur Coppa Shell class over the coming years, winning two races in 2018. Karl Oppitzhauser
Karl Oppitzhauser (born 4 October 1941) is a former racing driver from Austria. He is chiefly known for his optimistic attempt to enter the 1976 Formula One Austrian Grand Prix. Career Oppitzhauser began his career in Formula Vee in the 1960s, and also raced a Lotus Europa. By 1968 he had progressed to a Ferrari Dino, and later a Lamborghini Miura, before competing in the Alfasud Cup in the mid-1970s. In 1976, Oppitzhauser attempted to enter the Austrian Grand Prix with the local ÖASC Racing Team, driving a March 761, despite having little experience in single seater racing cars. Due to this lack of experience, both Oppitzhauser and his teammate Otto Stuppacher were refused entry to the event. Unlike Stuppacher, Oppitzhauser did not make any further attempts at Formula One. Loris Kessel (1 April 1950 – 15 May 2010) was a racing driver from Switzerland. Biography He was born in Lugano and died in Montagnola following a long illness. He participated in six Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 2 May 1976. He scored no championship points. In 1976, he drove a Brabham for RAM, and in 1977 he drove his own Apollon- Williams, although this car was not a success. Kessel ran a series of car dealerships in Switzerland and his own racing team, competing in Ferrari Challenge series in Italy and the main European series. Nicklas Nielsen (born 6 February 1997 in Hørning) is a professional Ferrari GT factory racing driver from Denmark. Career Karting Nielsen began karting when he was 4 years old back in 2001. He competed in many international events and championships, winning ten major titles. Fabio Leimer (born 17 April 1989) is a former professional racing driver from Switzerland. He is best known for winning the 2013 GP2 Series. Career Karting Like many of today's racing drivers, Rothrist-born Leimer started his career in karting back in 2003, when he won the Swiss Junior Championship. The Ferrari 488 (Type F142M) is a mid-engine sports car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. The car replaced the 458, being the first mid-engine Ferrari to use a turbocharged V8 since the F40. It was succeeded by the Ferrari F8. Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone and Whittlebury.
