2017 FIBA AmeriCup
The 2017 FIBA AmeriCup was the 18th edition of the FIBA AmeriCup, which is the main tournament for senior men's basketball national teams of the FIBA Americas. The tournament was held in Medellín, Colombia, Montevideo, Uruguay, and Bahía Blanca and Córdoba, in Argentina, from 25 August, to 3 September 2017. Unlike previous editions, the tournament did not award spots for the FIBA World Cup or the Summer Olympic Games. However, the top seven teams qualified to the 2019 Pan American Games. The United States, with a team of NBA G League players, won their seventh gold medal at the tournament, after defeating Argentina, by a score of 81–76, in the final, while Mexico took home the bronze, by beating the U.S. Virgin Islands, 79–65. Guillermo Moreno (born 15 October 1955) is an Argentine politician. He served from 2005 to 2013 as Secretary of Domestic Trade, a position to which he was appointed by President Néstor Kirchner and in which he remained under the presidency of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner until his resignation, in the midst of scandal, in November 2013. Cariduros de Fajardo is a professional basketball team of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional founded in 1973. Based in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, the team plays at the Tomás Dones Coliseum. Sergio Valdeolmillos Moreno (born April 4, 1967) is a Spanish basketball coach who is the current coach of Astros de Jalisco of the Mexican CIBACOPA. He coached the Mexico national team at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Valdeolmillos also led Mexico to the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship and the 2014 Centrobasket Championship.
