2017 Colorado State Rams Football Team
The 2017 Colorado State Rams football team represented Colorado State University during the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Rams were led by third-year head coach Mike Bobo and played their home games at the newly built Sonny Lubick Field at Colorado State Stadium in Fort Collins, Colorado as members of the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 7–6, 5–3 in Mountain West play to finish in a tie for second place in the Mountain Division. They were invited to the New Mexico Bowl where they lost to Marshall. Mike Bobo
Robert Michael Bobo (born April 9, 1974) is an American college football coach who is currently the Offensive Analyst for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Auburn Tigers. He was the head coach of the Colorado State Rams football team from 2015 to 2019. He succeeded Jim McElwain at CSU, making him the second consecutive SEC offensive coordinator hired to coach the Rams. Before joining the Rams, he spent all but one of the first 22 years of his adult life with the Georgia Bulldogs as a player or assistant coach. Playing career Bobo played for the Thomasville High School Bulldogs (Thomasville, Georgia) before playing college football at the University of Georgia. Michael Gallup (born March 4, 1996) is an American football wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Colorado State Rams football, Colorado State. Early years Gallup attended Monroe Area High School in Monroe, Georgia, where he played high school football, football, baseball, high school basketball, basketball, and ran track and field, track. He started focusing on football as a junior, playing quarterback in a triple option offense. As a senior, Gallup played wide receiver and running back, registering 28 receptions for 637 yards (22.8-yard average) and 10 receiving touchdowns, 37 carries for 484 yards (13.1-yard average) and seven rushing touchdowns. Bryant–Denny Stadium is an outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States, on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The Rocky Mountain Showdown is the name given to the Colorado–Colorado State football rivalry. It is an American college football intrastate rivalry between the University of Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State University Rams; the winner of the game receives the Centennial Cup. It began in 1893 and was played annually from 1899 to 1958, except for 1901, 1905, and 1943–44. It was revived in 1983 and played periodically until it became an annual rivalry once again from 1995 to 2019.
