2017 Challenge Cup
The 2017 Challenge Cup, (also known as the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 116th staging of the Challenge Cup the main rugby league knockout tournament for teams in the Super League, the British National Leagues and a number of invited amateur clubs. The defending champions were Hull F.C. who beat Warrington Wolves 12–10 in the 2016 final at Wembley Stadium. Hull F.C. retained the trophy beating Wigan Warriors 18–14 at Wembley on 26 August 2017. The format of the competition was eight knock-out rounds followed by a final. The first two rounds were composed entirely of 32 amateur teams. The eight winners of the second round ties were joined in round 3 by the 16 League 1 teams including for the first time a Canadian team, the Toronto Wolfpack. Leigh Miners Rangers
Leigh Miners Rangers are a community amateur rugby league football club from Leigh in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester. The club currently competes in the National Conference League, the National Conference Premier Division. The club also operates an A team, Masters, an Under 18's team, and numerous junior teams. Miners Rangers also field a successful Ladies side in the RFL Women's Super League Group The club was founded in 1966 as Leigh Miners Welfare. Lee Radford
Lee Radford (born 26 March 1979) is an English professional rugby league coach for the Castleford Tigers. He previously worked in rugby league as the head coach of Hull F.C., in the Super League, from 2013–2020. He is also a former professional rugby league footballer. As a player, he was an England international forward who played for Yorkshire, and for Hull F.C. and the Bradford Bulls in the Super League. The Deep (aquarium)
The Deep is a public aquarium situated at Sammy's Point, at the confluence of the River Hull and the Humber Estuary in Kingston upon Hull, Hull, England. It opened in March 2002. Billed as "the world's only submarium", the exhibits contain thousands of sea creatures (including seven species of shark), of water and of salt housed in a building designed by Terry Farrell (architect), Terry Farrell and built as part of the UK National Lottery (United Kingdom), National Lottery's Millennium Commission project. The Leigh Leopards are a professional rugby league club based in Leigh, Greater Manchester, England, who compete in the Betfred Super League. The club was founded in 1878, and is one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. 2016 Super 8s
The 2016 Super 8s were a feature of the British rugby league system, between 2015 and 2018, and were played in the top three professional divisions. After 23 games the league table is frozen and the teams are split into 5 groups called the Super 8s. The top 8 Super League play each other once more before the top 4 team enter the playoffs for a place in the Super League Grand Final. The Championship, known as the Betfred Championship for sponsorship reasons, is a professional rugby league competition. It is the second-tier competition organised by the Rugby Football League, the governing body for the sport in England, and consists of 14 teams, with promotion to the Super League and relegation to the third-tier competition, League One.
