The 2017 Camellia Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game played at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama, on December 16, 2017. The game was the fourth edition of the Camellia Bowl and featured the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders of Conference USA and the Arkansas State Red Wolves of the Sun Belt Conference. Sponsored by broadcasting company Raycom Media, the game was officially known as the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. Cramton Bowl
Cramton Bowl is a 25,000-seat stadium located in Montgomery, Alabama. Cramton Bowl opened in 1922 as a baseball stadium and has been home to Major League Baseball spring training and to minor league baseball. Today, however, its primary use is for American football. It is the host of the annual Camellia Bowl and Montgomery Bowl for the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS); the FCS Kickoff, an annual season-opening game in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision; and of Montgomery's five high school squads. The Camellia Bowl is an annual National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sanctioned FBS college football bowl game played in Montgomery, Alabama, at the Cramton Bowl. The game features teams from the Sun Belt Conference and the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The bowl game was announced in August 2013 and first played in December 2014. The 2017–18 NCAA football bowl games was a series of college football bowl games which completed the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The games began on December 16, 2017, and aside from the all-star games ended with the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship which was played on January 8, 2018. The total of 40 team-competitive bowls in FBS, including the national championship game, was one less than the previous year, with the folding of the Poinsettia Bowl. To fill the 78 available bowl slots, a total of 15 teams (19% of all participants) with non-winning (6–6) seasons participated in bowl games. This marks only the second time in seven years that no teams with losing seasons (6–7 or 5–7) had to be invited to fill available bowl berths. Brent Forrest Stockstill (born August 5, 1994) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at Middle Tennessee State. A former quarterback at Middle Tennessee, he set multiple career program records including passing yards, touchdown passes, completed passes, and pass attempts.
