2017 British Rally Championship
The 2017 MSA British Rally Championship was the 58th season of the British Rally Championship. British Rally Championship
The British Rally Championship is a rallying series based in the United Kingdom. The first championship was run in 1958 and it has been licensed by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) since 1999. MSA has opted not to run the series in 2015, instead giving its promotion to its own subsidiary (IMS) for 2016. Champions British Rally Championship *In 2000, Ipatti used both Kari Kajala and Teppo Leino as co-drivers during the season. Hence, runner-up Mark Higgins' co-driver Bryan Thomas was awarded the co-drivers title. Two similar situations occurred in 2004 & 2008. In 2004 David Higgins used Chris Wood, Craig Thorley & Daniel Barritt as co-drivers during the season. Hence, runner-up Austin MacHale' co-driver Brian Murphy was awarded the co-drivers title. Rally Isle Of Man
Rally Isle of Man (previously the ''Manx International Rally'' and formerly the ''Manx Trophy Rally'') is a car rally competition held in the Isle of Man. It was first held in 1963, and later became a well-known event in the British Open Rally Championship and the European Rally Championship (until 1996). In 2002, it became part of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in addition to the British Rally Championship. The most successful drivers in the history of the rally include the five-time winner Mark Higgins and the four-time winners Tony Pond and Russell Brookes. This has been an annual event for many years, apart from cancellation in 2011. In early September 2018, it was announced that the 2018 event had been cancelled. Various allegations were made, blaming the cancellation on, inter alia, the rally organisers, the Department of Infrastructure and the Department for Enterprise. Garry Pearson (born 7 September 1991) is a British rally driver from the town of Duns in the Scottish borders. He was Scottish Rally Champion in 2021. Thomas Cave (born 16 November 1991) is a British rally driver. He is the son of club rally driver Peter Cave and his ambition is to become the next British champion in the FIA World Rally Championship. He is the UK's first minor international rally driver and achieved his international rally licence, issued in Latvia, at the age of 16. Career Early Tom first began driving at the age of eight, when he took to the wheel of a car on private ground. However, it was when he was 13 that his father bought him a motorcycle-engined, rear wheel-drive buggy and it was this that would push his development forward at a huge rate. Torstein Eriksen (born 29 April 1990) is a rallying co-driver from Norway. He is currently teamed with Andreas Mikkelsen and is competing for Toksport WRT in the World Rally Championship-2. David Bogie
David Bogie (born 31 July 1987) is a British rally driver from Dumfries. He has held the title of Scottish Rally Champion for a record breaking six years from 2009 until 2013 and 2022. At the end of season 2011, he was both Scottish and British Rally Champion, the first person ever to hold both titles simultaneously. Career His first rally was in 2004 at the wheel of a Vauxhall Nova on a round of the SRC. He continued to use this car throughout 2005 and 2006 in the BTRDA Rally Championship in the 1400 section. In 2007, he had his first stage win, driving a Toyota Corolla WRC.
