2017 BinckBank Tour
The 2017 BinckBank Tour was a road cycling stage race that took place between 7 and 13 August in the Netherlands and Belgium. It was a continuation of the Eneco Tour but was renamed following a change in title sponsor. As such, it was the 13th edition, the first one under the name BinckBank Tour. It was also the 29th event of the 2017 UCI World Tour. It was won by Tom Dumoulin. Teams All UCI WorldTeam were invited as the race is part of the UCI World Tour. The race organisation also gave out wildcards to four UCI Professional Continental teams. Schedule The course for the race was announced in May 2017. 2017 UCI World Tour
The 2017 UCI World Tour was a competition that included thirty-seven road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2017 in men's road cycling, 2017 men's cycling season. It was the ninth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The competition started with the opening stage of the 2017 Tour Down Under, Tour Down Under on 17 January and concluded with the final stage of the 2017 Tour of Guangxi, Tour of Guangxi on 24 October. Slovakia's Peter Sagan was the defending champion. The 2017 edition featured ten new events. Sagan was unable to defend his World Tour title, winning just one race overall at the 2017 Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec in September, as he finished fourth in the points rankings; he finished one point behind third-placed Tom Dumoulin. Sittard-Geleen
Sittard-Geleen (; li, Zittert-Gelaen ) is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It was formed in 2001 from the former municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born. The combined municipality has approximately 92,518 inhabitants (March 2019) and is thus the second most populated municipality in Limburg (after Maastricht with 125,000 inhabitants). Stage 5
Stage 5 (or, originally, "Stage V") is an unofficial stage at the Walnut Valley Festival, an annual bluegrass festival in Winfield, Kansas, United States. Set up in the Pecan Grove campground, the informal stage began in 1987 when camper Russell Brace and friends built it on the back of a 1954 Chevrolet 4100 1-1/2 ton flatbed truck. The stage is so-named because the festival proper has four main stages. The stage was immediately popular and is now a cherished tradition at the annual event. Audiences at Stage 5 can usually expect to hear typical acoustic string instruments. However, many musicians, while there, part from traditional bluegrass styles and emphasize a looser, more rock-oriented interpretation of roots music. Several notables have played Stage 5. Edward Theuns (born 30 April 1991) is a Belgian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He rode for his national team at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships. Career Theuns made his debut for in 2014. He took his first victory in August 2014 in the Grote Prijs Stad Zottegem. In 2015, he began his season with four top-ten finishes at the Étoile de Bessèges, finishing fifth overall and winning the points classification. Lanaken
Lanaken (; li, Laoneke) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On January 1, 2007, the municipality of Lanaken had a total population of 24,724. Its area is 59.00 km² which gives a population density of 415 inhabitants per km². Lanaken is located on the Belgian-Dutch border, bordering Maastricht directly. Ardooie (; vls, Ardôoie) is a municipality in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Ardooie proper and Koolskamp. Blankenberge (; french: Blankenberghe; vls, Blanknberge) is a city and a municipality in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the town of Blankenberge proper and the settlement of Uitkerke. On 1 December 2014, Blankenberge had a total population of 19,897.
