2017 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball tournament was a postseason women's basketball tournament for the Atlantic Coast Conference was held March 1 to 5 in Conway, South Carolina, at the HTC Center. It was originally scheduled to be played in Greensboro, North Carolina, but was moved due to Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, HB2 law. Notre Dame won their 4th straight ACC tournament title to earn an automatic trip to the 2017 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament, NCAA women's tournament. Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act
The Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, commonly known as House Bill 2 or HB2, was a North Carolina statute passed in March 2016 and signed into law by Governor Pat McCrory. The bill amended state law to preempt any anti-discrimination ordinances passed by local communities and, controversially, compelled schools and state and local government facilities containing single-gender washrooms to only allow people of the corresponding sex as listed on their birth certificate to use them; it also gave the state exclusive rights to determine the minimum wage. The ACC women's basketball tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Atlantic Coast Conference and was held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York from March 7 to 11, 2017. Duke became the first team in history to win four straight games in the ACC Tournament and received the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA tournament with a 75–69 win over Notre Dame. 2017 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2017 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was played from Friday, March 17 to Sunday, April 2, 2017, with the Final Four played at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on March 31 and April 2. This was the first time that the women's Final Four was played in Dallas and the first time since 2002 that the Final Four games were played on Friday and Sunday, rather than Sunday and Tuesday. HTC Center
HTC Center, originally known as the Student Recreation and Convocation Center, is a 3,370-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. It is home to the Coastal Carolina University men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball teams. The arena replaced Kimbel Arena as Coastal Carolina's basketball and volleyball home. On August 2, 2012, Horry Telephone Cooperative purchased the naming rights to the venue. An earlier planned arena, named YRT2 Arena, was to have opened in 2008. It would have also been home to a future ECHL franchise, the Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz. ACC On Regional Sports Networks
The ACC on Regional Sports Networks (also known as simply ACC RSN) is a package of telecasts produced by Raycom Sports, in cooperation with Bally Sports, featuring Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) college sports. The package is syndicated primarily to regional sports networks, with Bally Sports accounting for the majority of their affiliates. Out of market these telecasts air on ACC Network Extra through ESPN3. History The practice of distributing ACC sports telecasts to regional networks began with the original Jefferson-Pilot syndication package for football and Raycom/JP package for basketball in the 1980s.
