2016–17 UMKC Kangaroos Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 UMKC Kangaroos men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri–Kansas City during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Kangaroos, led by fourth-year head coach Kareem Richardson, played their home games at the Municipal Auditorium as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 18–17, 8–6 in WAC play to finish in fourth place. They defeated Texas–Rio Grande Valley in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament before losing to New Mexico State in the semifinals. They received an invitation to the College Basketball Invitational where they defeated Green Bay in the first round before losing to Wyoming in the quarterfinals. Previous season The Kangaroos finished the 2015–16 season 12–19, 4–10 in WAC play to finish in a tie for sixth place. Kareem Richardson
Kareem Andre Richardson (born August 8, 1974) is an American basketball coach who is the former head coach at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC). Richardson was fired as head coach of UMKC on March 17, 2019, after compiling a 75–118 record in six seasons. He was hired as an assistant coach at Clemson on April 22, 2021. Isaiah Ross (basketball)
Isaiah Leonja Ross (born October 24, 1996) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the UMKC Kangaroos and the Iona Gaels. High school career Ross attended Davenport West High School. As a senior, he averaged 17 points per game. Ross did a postgraduate season at Hillcrest Prep, playing alongside Deandre Ayton and Marvin Bagley. He committed to playing college basketball for UMKC. College career As a freshman at UMKC, Ross averaged 8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. He averaged 11.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Following the season, he transferred to Iona, sitting out a season per NCAA regulations. As a junior, Ross averaged 11 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Mundelein, Illinois
Mundelein is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States and a northern suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 31,560. It is approximately thirty-five miles northwest of Chicago. History The community now known as Mundelein has been inhabited since at least 1650, when the Potawatomi people were known to have been trading with French fur traders. The first European inhabitants reached the area in the early 19th century. Peter Shaddle (for whom a street is named) was the first known settler, building a log cabin in the area now owned by St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in 1835. Northwest Kansas Technical College is a public technical college in Goodland, Kansas, United States. The college offers 14 different programs ranging from diesel technology to medical assistant. Olathe ( ) is the county seat of Johnson County, Kansas, United States. The Jackson State Tigers basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, United States.
