2016–17 Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represented Texas Tech University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Red Raiders were led by first-year coach Chris Beard. They played their home games at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas as members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 18–14, 6–12 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They lost in the first round of the Big 12 tournament to Texas. Chris Beard (basketball)
Christopher Michael Beard (born February 18, 1973) is an American basketball coach who was most recently the head coach at the University of Texas at Austin for the men's team. He previously coached at Texas Tech, Little Rock, Angelo State, and McMurry. Beard graduated from high school from McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas. He was a manager at Texas under former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. He received a Masters of Education from Abilene Christian University where he served as a graduate assistant in 1998. Under Beard's watch, the Texas Tech Red Raiders made the deepest NCAA Tournament runs in school history. Tubby Smith
Orlando Henry "Tubby" Smith (born June 30, 1951) is an American college basketball coach. He was the men's basketball coach at High Point University, his alma mater. Smith previously served in the same role at the University of Tulsa, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, the University of Minnesota, Texas Tech University, and the University of Memphis. With Kentucky, he coached the Wildcats to the 1998 NCAA championship. In his 31 years as a head coach, Smith achieved 26 winning seasons. In 2005, he joined Roy Williams, Nolan Richardson, Denny Crum, and Jim Boeheim as the only head coaches to win 365 games in 15 seasons or fewer. The La Salle Explorers men's basketball program represents La Salle University in college basketball. Toddrick Gotcher (born March 14, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for CSO Voluntari of the Liga Națională. He played college basketball for Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2011 until 2016. Gotcher entered the 2016 NBA draft, but was not selected in the draft's two rounds. High school career Gotcher played high school basketball at Lakeview Centennial in Garland, Texas. He was ranked as the No. 2 player in Texas. Georgia Highlands College (Georgia Highlands or GHC) is a public college in northwest Georgia. It has locations in Floyd County (near Rome), Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas and serves the northwest parts of Georgia, as well as parts of east Alabama and southeast Tennessee. The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida, United States. The school's team currently competes in the ASUN Conference. In 2002, Florida Gulf Coast became an independent member of NCAA Division II.
