2016–17 Slovenian Basketball League
The 2016–17 Slovenian Basketball League, also known as Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, was the 26th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. Helios Suns were the defending champions. KK Union Olimpija won their 16th national title, defeating KK Rogaška 3–1 in the final. Format The 12 teams of the league play a double-legged round-robin competition where the six first qualified teams will join the playoffs for the title. The four last qualified teams will join the relegation group where the three worst qualified teams will be relegated. Teams Sixt Primorska was created after the merge of KOŠ Koper and KK Lastovka and occupied the place of this team in the league. 2015–16 Slovenian Basketball League
The 2015–16 Slovenian Basketball League was the 25th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. On March 24, 2016, league got new sponsorship name, Liga Nova KBM. The defending champions were Tajfun. From 2. SKL were promoted Škofja Loka and additionally Lastovka, because Grosuplje withdrew from the league. Maribor also withdrew from the league due to bankruptcy. Format League consisted of 12 teams, but only nine started the first half of the season, because Olimpija, Krka, and Tajfun played in the regional ABA League and joined the competition in the second half. In the first half of the season, nine teams played each other twice, home and away. KK Helios Domžale
The Helios Suns are a men's professional basketball club based in Domžale, Slovenia. The club competes in the Slovenian First League and the ABA League Second Division. They have won the national league in the 2006–07 and 2015–16 seasons. Since 1981, their main sponsor is local chemical company Helios. Their home arena is Komunalni center Hall. Novo Mesto
Novo Mesto (; sl, Novo mesto; also known by other alternative names) is a city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. The town is traditionally considered the economic and cultural centre of the historical Lower Carniola region. Name Novo Mesto was attested in historical sources in 1365 as ''Růdolfswerde'' (and as ''Rudolfswerd'' in 1392 and ''Noua Mesta'' in 1419). Polzela
Polzela () is a settlement in Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Polzela. It lies on the left bank of the Savinja River extending into the Ložnica Hills ( sl, Ložniško gričevje) to the north. The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included in the Savinja Statistical Region. Buildings On a hill in the centre of the settlement is Komenda Castle, a 13th-century castle used in later centuries by the Knights Hospitaller and greatly rebuilt in the 19th century. A marble lion found at the castle and the Hospitallers' Maltese cross appear in the municipal coat of arms. Košarkarski klub Koper Primorska ( en, Koper Primorska Basketball Club), commonly referred to as KK Koper Primorska, was a men's professional basketball club based in Koper, Slovenia.
