2016–17 SVB Topklasse
The 2016–17 Telesur Topklasse is the 84th season of top tier Suriname football league and 1st season of the Topklasse, the highest football league competition of Suriname. The season began in November 2016, and ended in June 2017.Surinam 2016/17
RSSSF.com Telesur became official broadcaster and sponsor of the Topklasse before the start of this season.

SVB Topklasse
The SVB Eerste Divisie is the highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The Topklasse is at the top of the system of Surinamese football championships. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June of the next year, with teams playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was known as the Hoofdklasse but became Topklasse beginning with the 2016–17 season, and then from the 2017–18 season forward, the Eerste Divisie. The competition was founded in 1924, when Suriname was still a Dutch colony. History At the beginning of the 20th century the NGVB (Guyaneesche Dutch Football Association) was founded. The rival Suriname Football Association was founded on October 1, 1920. Meerzorg
Meerzorg (Sranan Tongo: Ansu) is a town and resort (municipality) in Suriname, located on the eastern bank of the Suriname River, directly opposite the capital Paramaribo. Its population at the 2012 census was 12,405. Since 2000 it has been connected to Paramaribo by the Jules Wijdenbosch Bridge, named after the former President Jules Wijdenbosch. History Meerzorg is named after the sugar plantation Meerzorg. The plantation was founded at the end of the 17th century, and was originally called Plantage Amsinck. On 10 October 1712, Jacques Cassard captured the plantation for France, and threatened Paramaribo across the Suriname river. Negotiations started, and on 27 October Cassard left with ƒ747,350 (€8.1 million in 2018) worth of goods and slaves. To protect Paramaribo and Commewijne from future attacks, Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam was constructed, and opened in 1747. Walking Boyz Company
S.V. Walking Boyz Company also SV WBC or WBC, is a Surinamese association football club based in Paramaribo. They have won the Surinamese Hoofdklasse title three times. The club play at the Essed Stadion with a capacity of 3,500 spectators, which is also the National Stadium and is shared with several clubs. History Walking Boyz Company were founded on 16 January 1997 in Paramaribo. Seven years later the team won its first national championship, winning the first Championship-Super Cup double in Suriname in 2004. WBC went on to win two more national titles in 2006 and 2009, winning the Super Cup ( Suriname President's Cup) as well on both occasions. Due to their results, the club were able to participate in the CFU Club Championship, the International Caribbean club competition which leads to qualification for the CONCACAF Champions League. N.V. Dash F.C. Inter Wanica, referred to as Inter Wanica, is a football club located in Kwatta, Suriname. History The club was founded in 1942 as Nishan 42. They played their first season in the SVB Hoofdklasse in 2015–16, following promotion from the SVB Eerste Klasse. SV Leo Victor
Sport Vereniging Leo Victor, known as SV Leo Victor, is a Surinamese football club which currently plays in the Eerste Divisie. They play their home games in Paramaribo at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion. History Founded on 9 January 1934 as a Roman Catholic sports club, S.V. Leo Victor were founded by the working community of the Leo Victor cigar factory in Paramaribo, Suriname. In 1964, Leo Victor became the first association football club of Suriname to qualify for an International CONCACAF club tournament, qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Leo Victor made four appearances in the tournament.
