The 2016–17 season is Rochdale A.F.C., Rochdale's 110th year in existence and their third consecutive season in Football League One, League One. Along with competing in League One, the club will participate in the FA Cup, Football League Cup, League Cup and Football League Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017. Rochdale ( ) is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, at the foothills of the South Pennines in the dale (landform), dale on the River Roch, northwest of Oldham and northeast of Manchester. EFL Trophy
The English Football League Trophy, known for sponsorship purposes as the Papa Johns Trophy after restaurant chain Papa John's Pizza, is an annual English association football knockout competition open to all clubs in EFL League One and EFL League Two, with the addition of 16 under-21 teams from Premier League and EFL Championship clubs since the 2016–17 season. It is the 3rd most prestigious knockout competition in English football after the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Ben Wilson (born 9 August 1992) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for EFL Championship club Coventry City. Career Early career Wilson began his career with Sunderland in 2006, earning a professional contract in 2010. He was sent on loan to Harrogate Town in 2013, playing three times. Wilson was sent out on loan to Gateshead and Chesterfield, failing to make an appearance for either and was released by Sunderland in the summer of 2013. Donal McDermott
Donal Jeremiah McDermott (born 19 October 1989) is an Irish footballer who last played for Swindon Town. Club career Manchester City/Loan Spells McDermott began his career at Ashbourne United then moved to Cherry Orchard of Dublin, where he was scouted, and signed up by Manchester City. Nathaniel Otis Mendez-Laing (born 15 April 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for club Derby County. Born and raised in England to a Jamaican father and a Belizean mother of Guatemalan descent, he plays for the Guatemala national team at international level. Callum Jason Noel Camps (born 30 November 1995) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Stockport County. Born in England, he has represented Northern Ireland internationally at youth levels. Calvin Hyden Andrew (born 19 December 1986) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. Andrew began his career at Luton Town, debuting in the 2004–05 League One title-winning season. Matthew Charles Lund (born 21 November 1990) is a professional association football, footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Salford City F.C., Salford City. Lund began his career with English club Stoke City F.C., Stoke City in the Premier League, where he failed to make his debut. Peter Ian Vincenti (born 7 July 1986) is a Jèrriais professional footballer who plays for Jersey Football Combination club St. Peter. He primarily plays as a winger, although he has also been deployed in attacking midfield, and as a forward. Vincenti is the vice-chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA). Harrison McGahey (born 26 September 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for club The New Saints. McGahey began his career as a junior with Blackburn Rovers and then Liverpool, before moving to Blackpool where he eventually made his first team debut. Niall David Stephen Canavan (born 11 April 1991) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Barrow in the English Football League. Jimmy McNulty (born 13 February 1985) is a former professional footballer who played as a centre back for, and is manager of, club Rochdale. Career Born in Runcorn, Cheshire, McNulty had trials at both Liverpool and Everton as a schoolboy before choosing to join the latter's academy set-up. McNulty then signed for Wrexham after being released. After several years at Wrexham, he became their reserve team captain.
