2016–17 Oxford United F.C. Season
The 2016–17 season was Oxford United's first season back in League One after gaining promotion the previous season, and their 123rd year in existence. As well as competing in League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, League Cup and League Trophy. Oxford lost three key players in the close season, Kemar Roofe departing for Leeds for a club record of £3m, Callum O'Dowda (less expectedly) to Bristol City for around £1m, and striker Danny Hylton who declined a contract renewal offer and joined Luton Town in League Two. United narrowly failed to sign Matty Taylor to replace the goal-scoring potential of these three players, but Chris Maguire, after protracted negotiations, signed a one-year contract extension and strikers Wes Thomas and Kane Hemmings were brought in to boost the forward line, the latter for a £250,000 fee. Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. Historically in the parish of Dalziel and part of Lanarkshire, Motherwell is the headquarters for North Lanarkshire Council. Marvin Nicholas Johnson (born 1 December 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Sheffield Wednesday. Career Early career Johnson began his career with Solihull Moors, and spent a loan spell at Coleshill Town. While a Solihull Moors player he won the County FA Cup in May 2009 representing Birmingham FA. In March 2010 he was linked with a transfer to Rushall Olympic, but he instead signed for Romulus, and was their top scorer in the 2011–12 season. Robert Kieran Dennis Hall (born 20 October 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays for Hampton & Richmond Borough. Hall plays as a forward or on the wing. Ryan Clarke (English Footballer)
Ryan James Clarke (born 30 April 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Hungerford Town. He previously trained with the England under-18 squad in La Manga. Career Bristol Rovers Born in Bristol, Clarke started his career with Bristol Rovers; during his time on Rovers' books he had spells on loan at Kidderminster Harriers, Southend United and Forest Green Rovers, where he worked with former England wicketkeeper Jack Russell as his goalkeeper coach. Simon Eastwood
Simon Christopher Eastwood (born 26 June 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Oxford United. Eastwood started his career as a youth player with Huddersfield Town. He went professional in 2007, but struggled to break into the first team and went on loan to Woking in 2008 then moved to Bradford City a year later. Kane Ruudi Hemmings (born 8 April 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays for League Two club Tranmere Rovers. Matty Taylor (footballer, Born 1990)
Matthew James Taylor (born 30 March 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Oxford United. He will become a free agent on 30 June 2023. Taylor made his debut in the Conference Premier at Oxford United during the 2007–08 season, and went on to spend time on loan at Abingdon United, before joining Didcot Town on a free transfer in June 2009. He moved on to North Leigh later in the year, where his scoring record in the Southern League earned him a return to the Conference Premier with Forest Green Rovers in September 2011.
