2016–17 Oklahoma State Cowboys Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball team represented Oklahoma State University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by first-head coach Brad Underwood. The Cowboys were members of the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They finished the season 20–13, 9–9 in Big 12 play to finish in fifth place. They lost to Iowa State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 10 seed in the Midwest region where they lost to Michigan in the first round. On March 18, 2017, head coach Brad Underwood left the school to accept the head coaching position at Illinois after one year at OSU. Brad Underwood
Bradley Cole Underwood (born December 14, 1963) is the current head coach for the Illinois men's basketball team. Previously, he served as head coach at Oklahoma State, Stephen F. Austin, Dodge City Community College, and Daytona Beach Community College and assistant coach at Western Illinois, Kansas State, and South Carolina. Playing career Underwood played as a guard for Hardin-Simmons University during his freshman year from 1982 to 1983 and later transferred to Independence Community College. During his sophomore year, Underwood averaged 17 points a game and led Independence to a second place finish in the NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship game. Travis Ford
Travis Ford (born December 29, 1969) is an American college basketball coach, who is currently the head coach of the Saint Louis Billikens men's basketball, Saint Louis Billikens men's basketball team. He was also previously the head coach at Campbellsville University, Eastern Kentucky Colonels basketball, Eastern Kentucky, UMass Minutemen basketball, Massachusetts, and Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball, Oklahoma State. Lindy Waters III (born July 28, 1997) is a Kiowa-American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He was named a finalist for the NBA 2023–24 Social Justice Champion Award for the work his foundation does to support Native American youth through sports, health and wellness. Cameron McGriff (born September 30, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Santeros de Aguada of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). The Valparaiso Beacons men's basketball team represents Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. The basketball team competes in the Missouri Valley Conference, having joined that league in 2017 after 10 seasons in the Horizon League.
