2016–17 Liga De Fútbol Profesional Boliviano Season
The 2016–17 Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano season was the 40th season of Bolivia's top-flight football league and the last season under the LFPB name. This season comprised three tournaments (''Apertura 2016'', ''Apertura 2017'' and ''Clausura 2017'') after an agreement was reached between LFPB and ANF (Second Division) to change the calendar to a single calendar year following the reforms implemented for the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana by CONMEBOL ahead of the 2017 season. Teams The number of teams for 2016–17 remained the same as last season. Ciclón was relegated to the Liga Nacional B (Second Division). They were replaced by the 2015–16 Liga Nacional B champion Guabirá. Club Deportivo Universitario San Francisco Xavier is a professional football team based in Sucre, Bolivia that competes in the Bolivian Primera División. The club has two titles in its history and also has three international appearances in continental tournaments of South America, one in the Copa Libertadores and two in the Copa Sudamericana, the most notable in the 2010 season of that tournament, finishing in the Round of 16. Nacional Potosí is a Bolivian football and basketball team from Potosí. The football team currently plays in the Bolivian Primera División. Founded on 8 April 1942, it plays its home games at Estadio Víctor Agustín Ugarte. History Nacional Potosí is one of Bolivia's oldest football clubs, being founded on 8 April 1942. The Strongest
Club The Strongest is a Bolivian professional football club based in La Paz, that currently plays in the Bolivian Primera División. Founded in 1908, their team colours are yellow and black. Although they have a home ground, Estadio Rafael Mendoza, (capacity: 15,000), they play most of their games at the Estadio Hernando Siles, Bolivia's national ground (capacity: 42,000). Club Deportivo Oriente Petrolero () is a Bolivian football club based in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. They play at the 38,000-capacity Estadio Tahuichi Aguilera. Oriente have been Bolivian champions five times, Copa Aerosur winners two times. They have also been successful in South America, by being the second Bolivian team to make the quarter-finals in Copa Libertadores. The Liga Nacional B was the second tier of the Bolivian Football pyramid between 2011 and 2016. The inaugural season was scheduled to last from August 6, 2011 until April 8, 2012. Club Atlético Ciclón, most commonly known as Ciclón de Tarija, is a football club from Tarija, Bolivia currently playing in the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano (LFPB). The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana began in 2002, replacing the separate competitions Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur (that had replaced Copa CONMEBOL) by a single competition. The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as the Copa Libertadores de América ( pt, Copa Libertadores da América), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football.
