2016–17 Indiana Hoosiers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team represented Indiana University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Tom Crean, in what would ultimately be his final season in Bloomington. The team played its home games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana, as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Despite the highs of the previous season and being ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation, the Hoosiers faced a troubling and disappointing year; they finished 18–16 overall and 7–11 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for 10th place. At the Big Ten tournament they defeated Iowa in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to Wisconsin. Tom Crean (basketball)
Thomas Aaron Crean (born March 25, 1966) is a college basketball coach. Most recently, he was the head coach for the Georgia Bulldogs basketball, University of Georgia men's basketball team. Crean was previously the head coach of Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball, Indiana University. Prior to that, he served as head coach at Marquette Golden Eagles men's basketball, Marquette University (1999–2008), where his team reached the 2003 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, 2003 NCAA Final Four. Crean's basketball philosophy emphasizes fast breaks and transition offense. His guidance of the Indiana program to success from "unthinkable depths" was regarded as one of the most remarkable rebuilding projects in NCAA basketball history. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Men's Basketball
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team represents the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in NCAA Division I basketball. The team plays its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the school's Atlanta campus and is currently coached by Josh Pastner. Cremins led his team to the first ACC tournament victory in school history in 1985 and in 1990 he took Georgia Tech to the school's first Final Four appearance ever. Cremins retired from Georgia Tech in 2000 with the school's best winning percentage as a head coach. Max Bielfeldt
Maxwell Claggett Bielfeldt (born June 7, 1993) is an American former college basketball player for the Michigan Wolverines and Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference. After redshirting his freshman season for the 2011–12 Michigan Wolverines who were Big Ten regular season co-champions, he played for the national runner-up 2012–13 Michigan Wolverines and Big Ten regular season champion 2013–14 Michigan team. In his final year of eligibility at Indiana, he earned the 2016 Big Ten Conference Sixth Man of the Year for the Big Ten regular season champion 2015–16 Indiana Hoosiers. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Kevin Duane "Yogi" Ferrell Jr. (born May 9, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Cedevita Olimpija of the ABA League. He played college basketball at Indiana University. Early life Ferrell was ranked the number one player in his class as a fifth grader by Clark Francis in the controversial "Hoop Scoop" rankings in 2004. 2016 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 Big Ten men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big Ten Conference held from March 9 through March 13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was the nineteenth annual Big Ten men's basketball tournament and was the second tournament to feature 14 teams of the expanded Big Ten, including Maryland and Rutgers. The championship was won by Michigan State who defeated Purdue in the championship game. As a result, Michigan State received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The win marked Michigan State's fifth tournament championship, the most tournament championships by any team in the Big Ten (Ohio State has won five championships as well, but one has been vacated). Purdue Boilermakers Men's Basketball
The Purdue Boilermakers basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and is a member of the Big Ten Conference. Purdue basketball has the most Big Ten Championships with 24. 2015–16 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2015–16 Big Ten men's basketball season began with practices in October 2015, followed by the start of the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in late December and concluded in March, 2016. Indiana won the Big Ten regular season by two games over second place Michigan State. Four teams tied for third place. The 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 13. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and ended with the Final Four in Houston April 2–4. Practices officially began on October 2.
