2016–17 Honduran Liga Nacional De Ascenso
The 2016–17 Honduran Liga Nacional de Ascenso is the 38th edition of the second level tournament in Honduran football and the 15th since its re-branding as Liga de Ascenso. As the previous season, the tournament will be divided into two phases named ''Apertura'' (fall) and ''Clausura'' (spring), the winners of each phase will fight for the promotion to the 2017–18 Honduran Liga Nacional. 2016–17 teams For the first time, there will be 32 teams divided into 4 groups of eight. Olancho F
Olancho is the largest of all the 18 departments into which Honduras is divided. The department covers a total surface area of 24,057 km² and has an estimated 2015 population of 537,306 inhabitants. The departmental capital is Juticalpa, which is also the see of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Juticalpa, which covers the department. Terrain Rugged mountains rise in the western and northern portions of the department, notably the Sierra de Agalta, the Montaña de Tembladeros, and the Montaña de Botaderos. Vast pine and hardwood forests cover these mountains. Central Olancho has rolling plains, watered by the Guayape River and its affluents. These plains, sometimes called pampas due to their similarity to the vast Argentinian plains, are famous for their large cattle herds and extensive farming. Comayagua () is a city, municipality and old capital of Honduras, located northwest of Tegucigalpa on the highway to San Pedro Sula and above sea level. The accelerated growth experienced by the city of Comayagua led the municipal authorities to structure a territorial reorganization plan. Between the years of 1945 -1975 the population of the city quadrupled due to the high rate of population growth achieved at that time (4.8%) and to migratory movements in the interior of the country. Atlético Independiente is a Honduran soccer club based on Siguatepeque, Honduras. The club currently plays in Liga de Ascenso de Honduras. History Club Atlético Independiente was founded on October 12, 1960, by Luis Méndez and Julio Zepeda. The club originally played in Liga de Fútbol “Amado Sánchez”, an independent league in Siguatepeque, until 1979, when the club was promoted to Segunda Division (now called Liga de Ascenso). Since 1979, Atlético Independiente has been one of the most known and respected clubs in Liga de Ascenso. Atlético Municipal is a Honduran football club based in Santa Cruz de Yojoa. The club currently plays in Liga Nacional de Ascenso de Honduras. History The club was established in August 1980. It was only the second team from the Second Division to beat Honduran giants Olimpia, 3–2 in 2011. During the 2017 Honduran Cup, the club reached the Round of 16 after eliminating the clear favorites Real C.D. España. Parrillas One (pronounced pah-RI-yas OH-neh) is a Honduran football team based in San Pedro Sula, Cortés. For the 2012–13 season they played at Estadio Alfredo León Gómez in Tela. They were first promoted to Liga Nacional de Futbol de Honduras in the 2013 where they confirmed they will remain in Tela. The sponsor is Parrillas y Repuestos One, an automobile body shop. History The team is named for the sponsor, Parrillas y Repuestos One, an automobile body shop. ''Parrillas'' means " argrilles" in Spanish and ''One'' (pronounced "Oh-neh") is the company owner and club chairman's childhood nickname. The club was founded in 1993 as a leisure team for workers of the car paint shop, Parrillas One who played amateur pick-up games on Saturdays.
