2016–17 Honduran Liga Nacional
The 2016–17 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 51st Honduran Liga Nacional edition since its establishment in 1965. For this season, the system format stayed the same as the previous season. The tournament began in July 2016 and ended in May 2017. 2016–17 teams A total of 10 teams competed in the tournament, including 9 sides from the 2015–16 season plus C.D. Social Sol, promoted from the 2015–16 Liga de Ascenso. Managerial changes Apertura The Apertura tournament is the first half of the 2016–17 season which was played from 29 July to 18 December 2016. The fixture was unveiled on 9 July. C.D. Social Sol made its official debut in Liga Nacional on 29 July when they lost 3–2 to Club Deportivo Olimpia at Estadio Tiburcio Carías Andino. C.D. Liga Nacional De Fútbol Profesional De Honduras
Liga Betcris de Honduras (''Honduran National Professional Football League'') is the highest division of football in Honduras. The league season is divided into Opening (autumn) and Closing (spring). One team is relegated to the Liga de Ascenso (the team with fewest points in Opening and Closing) and one team is promoted from Liga de Ascenso. The top four clubs participate in play-offs to decide the champion. The winners of the Opening and Closing competitions participate in the CONCACAF Champions League. Estadio Yankel Rosenthal
Estadio Yankel Rosenthal is a multi-purpose use stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Renovations were completed in 2009, and it will now be used primarily for football matches. It is the home stadium of San Pedro Sula-based Marathón, the second oldest team in the nation, founded November 25, 1925. The stadium has a capacity of 5,500 spectators. The project, which was scheduled to be finalized in its entirety by 2007, was rescheduled to 2009 due to financial issues. The stadium is named after Marathón's current president and part owner Yankel Rosenthal, who started building the stadium, making Marathón the first and only Honduran football club to own its own stadium. Reynaldo Clavasquín
José Reynaldo Clavasquín Bejarano (born 28 January 1972 in Puerto Cortés) is a retired Honduran football defender and current manager. Club career Clavasquín started his career at hometown club Platense before joining F.C. Motagua in 1998 before the start of the 1998 Clausura. He scored the 1998 Clausura golden goal against Olimpia from a free-kick to make Motagua champions after a 13-year wait. He scored in the 1999/2000 Final. In September 2000 he went abroad to play for Scottish Premier League side Dundee United but left the club citing personal reasons in October 2000. He then moved to the Austrian Second Division outfit BSV Bad Bleiberg, where he lined up alongside compatriots Juan Manuel Cárcamo and Francisco Pavón.
