2016–17 Estonian Cup
The 2016–17 Estonian Cup was the 27th season of the Estonian main domestic Football (soccer), football knockout tournament. FCI Tallinn won their first title after defeating Tartu JK Tammeka, Tammeka 2–0 in the final. The winner of the Cup were to qualify for the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League, but as FCI Tallinn were already qualified for the Champions League as 2016 Meistriliiga champions the spot passed to FC Flora, Flora. Estonian Football Association
The Estonian Football Association (EJL; et, Eesti Jalgpalli Liit) is the governing body of football, beach soccer and futsal in Estonia, established on 14 December 1921. It organizes the football league, including the championship which is called Meistriliiga, Estonian Cup and the Estonian national football team. It is based in Tallinn. EJL became a member of FIFA in 1923, but following Estonia's annexation by the Soviet Union it was disbanded. It became a member again in 1992 after Estonia reinstated its independence. Controversy In 2017, FIFA fined the Estonian Football Association 30,000 Swiss francs (26,000 euros) and gave them a warning because of an incident where Bosnia and Herzegovina fans threw burning material onto the field. Kohtla-Nõmme (football Club)
Kohtla-Nõmme is a borough ( et, alev) in Toila Parish, in Ida-Viru County, in northeastern Estonia. It had a population of 1,047 (as of 1 January 2009) and an area of 4.64 km². In the 1930s, New Consolidated Gold Fields opened a shale oil extraction complex at Kohtla-Nõmme. In 1937, the company opened the Kohtla underground mine. After the occupation of Estonia by the Soviet Union, the company was nationalized in 1940. The Kohtla-Nõmme shale oil extraction complex continued to operate until 1961. The underground mine stayed operational until 2001. After that the Estonian Mining Museum was opened at the site. FC Flora U19
FC Flora U19 Tallinn, commonly known as Flora U19 Tallinn, or simply as Flora U19, is a football club, based in Tallinn, Estonia. Founded as FC Flora III, it is the reserve team of Flora U21, and currently plays in the II Liiga. Reserve teams in Estonia play in the same league system as the senior team, rather than in a reserve team league. JK Sillamäe Kalev
JK Sillamäe Kalev, commonly known as Sillamäe Kalev, or simply as Sillamäe, is a football club, based in Sillamäe, Estonia. Founded in 1957, Sillamäe Kalev was one of the founding members of the Meistriliiga. The club competed in the Meistriliiga, the top flight of Estonian football in 2017, but was declared bankrupt in March 2018. Its football academy continued and took over the name, continuing in the II liiga, 4th level in the Estonian football league system. FCI Tallinn (FC Infonet Tallinn) is a football club, based in Lasnamäe, Tallinn, Estonia. Formed in 2002, the club played in the Estonian top flight Meistriliiga from 2013 to 2017, and won the league in the 2016 season. In 2017, the club merged with Levadia, with the main team and first reserve disbanded, the second reserves, playing in the II Liiga, the fourth level, inherited the club's name.
