The 2016–17 Eintracht Frankfurt season was the 117th season in the club's football history. In 2016–17 the club played in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt e.V. () is a professional sports club based in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. It is best known for its football club, which was founded on 8 March 1899. The team is currently playing in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. Eintracht have won the German championship once, the DFB-Pokal five times, the UEFA Europa League twice and finished as runner-up in the European Cup once. The team was one of the founding members of the Bundesliga at its inception and has spent a total of 54 seasons in the top division, thus making them the seventh longest participating club in the highest tier of the league. The club's initial games from 1899 to 1906 were played on the former ''Hundswiese'' field, whose present day location would be near Hessischer Rundfunk. Alexander Meier
Alexander Meier (born 17 January 1983) is a German former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or forward. He was the 2014–15 Bundesliga top scorer with 19 goals in 26 games. Career Early career Meier began his professional career with FC St. Pauli in 2002. In the 2001–02 season, Meier appeared on matchdays 32 and 33. In the 2002–03 season, he became a regular fixture appearing in 23 league matches (scoring seven goals) and two cup matches. He signed his first professional contract on 10 April 2003. Heinz Lindner
Heinz Lindner (; born 17 July 1990) is an Austrian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Belgian Pro League side Saint-Gilloise, on loan from Swiss Challenge League club Sion, and the Austria national team. Club career Lindner started his career with the reserve team for Austria Wien where he made 32 appearances. He then went on to make 187 first team appearances. In January 2015, Lindner was about to transfer to La Liga club Córdoba, but the move fell through. Lindner instead agreed a transfer with German club Eintracht Frankfurt. He played in Frankfurt for two seasons. For two seasons he played in the Swiss Super League for Grasshopper Club, but following their relegation he moved on to Wehen Wiesbaden. Mijat Gaćinović (, ; born 8 February 1995) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Greek Super League club AEK Athens and the Serbia national team. Club career Vojvodina Gaćinović was born in Novi Sad while his father Vladimir played for FK Bečej. Haris Seferovic ( bs, Seferović, ; born 22 February 1992) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a striker for Süper Lig club Galatasaray, on loan from Portuguese club Benfica, and the Switzerland national team. Danny Blum (born 7 January 1991) is a German professional footballer who plays as a winger for club 1. FC Nürnberg. He plays mainly as a winger but also can play as a forward. Bastian Oczipka (born 12 January 1989) is a German former professional footballer who played as a left back. Career Oczipka began his career 1994 with SV Blau-Weiß Hand. After three years, he joined SSG Bergisch Gladbach in summer 1997. He played two years in the youth teams of SSG Bergisch Gladbach before he was scouted by Bayer Leverkusen in July 1999. In 2008, Leverkusen loaned him to F.C. Hansa Rostock.
