2016–17 Boise State Broncos Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Boise State Broncos men's basketball team represented Boise State University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Broncos, led by seventh year head coach Leon Rice, played their home games at Taco Bell Arena as a member of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 20–12, 12–6 in Mountain West play to finish in third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament to San Diego State. They received an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Utah in the first round before losing in the second round to Illinois. Leon Rice
Leon Paul Rice (born November 25, 1963) is an American college basketball coach, and the head men's basketball coach at Boise State University of the Mountain West Conference. He replaced Greg Graham as head coach of the Broncos on March 26, 2010. In his first season, Rice led Boise State to the finals of the WAC tournament and to the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational. He is the first Boise State head coach to win twenty games in two of his first three seasons and has twenty or more wins in nine of his twelve years. In 2013, he guided the Broncos to their first ever at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. In 2015, he led the Broncos to their only Mountain West regular season championship, Boise State's first conference title since 2008, and was named the MWC coach of the year. Anthony Drmic
Anthony Drmic (born 25 February 1992) is an Australian professional basketball player who last played for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for the Boise State Broncos and is their second all-time leading scorer. He led Boise State to two NCAA Tournaments during his 5 years with the Broncos. While he has represented the Australian under-19 team, he also holds a Croatian passport. College career Drmic attended the Australian Institute of Sport and was recruited to the United States to play at Boise State with teammate Igor Hadziomerovic. Justinian Jessup (born May 23, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who played for the Basket Zaragoza of the Liga ACB. He played college basketball for the Boise State Broncos. Jessup was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the 51st overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft. Early life and high school career Jessup lived in Boise during fourth and fifth grades and played club basketball under former Bronco basketball player Roberto Bergersen.
