2016–17 Bengaluru FC Season
The 2016–17 season was the fourth in the history of Bengaluru Football Club. It began on 1 July 2016 and concluded on 30 June 2017, with competitive matches occurring between September and May. The season was a historic one for the club as they became the first Indian club to reach the final of the AFC Cup – suffering defeat against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. The club also won their second Federation Cup, while in the league, Bengaluru ended their final I-League campaign in fourth place. This season would be Bengaluru's first with head coach Albert Roca, who stepped in for Ashley Westwood. Coming into the season, Bengaluru were the reigning I-League champions and in the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup for the first time in their history. Bengaluru Football Club () is an Indian professional football club based in Bangalore, Karnataka. The club competes in the Indian Super League, the top flight of Indian football. The club was established on 20 July 2013, and began its first competitive season in the I-League on 22 September the same year. Amrinder Ranjit Singh ( pa, ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ; born 27 May 1993) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Indian Super League club Odisha and the India national team. Álvaro Rubio Robles (born 18 April 1979) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Cameron Watson (born 31 May 1987) is a Scottish Australian football (soccer) player who plays as a defensive midfielder for National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 side Moreland Zebras FC. Khangebam Thoi Singh (born 5 October 1990) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Real Kashmir in the I-League. Curtis Osano (born 8 March 1987) is a Kenyan footballer who plays as a defender, most recently for Farnborough. Career Early years Born in Nakuru, Kenya, Osano moved to England aged nine when his father joined the British Army.
