2016–17 Baylor Bears Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Baylor Bears basketball team represented Baylor University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Scott Drew's 14th season at Baylor. The Bears competed in the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at the Ferrell Center in Waco, TX. They finished the season 27–8, 12–6 in Big 12 play to finish in a three-way tie for second place. They lost to Kansas State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. Scott Drew
Scott Homer Drew (born October 23, 1970) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the Baylor Bears, a position he has held since 2003. Drew began his coaching career as an assistant for Valparaiso under his father Homer Drew. Following his father's retirement in 2002, Drew would serve as the head coach of Valparaiso for one season before being hired by Baylor in 2003. Drew took over Baylor as a program in ruins, following decades of poor performance and a public scandal that resulted in numerous NCAA sanctions. Following an unsuccessful first 4 seasons while rebuilding the team, Drew turned Baylor from a program with only one NCAA tournament appearance since 1950 into a perennial tournament contender appearing in 10 of 13 tournaments since 2008. The 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 13. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and ended with the Final Four in Houston April 2–4. Lester Medford (born May 24, 1993) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for Umana San Giobbe Chiusi of the Serie A2. He played college basketball at Indian Hills from 2012 to 2013 and Baylor Bears from 2014 to 2016. Ricardo Darnell Gathers (born January 7, 1994) is an American rapper and former American football tight end. The 2015–16 Yale Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Yale University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by seventeenth year head coach James Jones, played their home games at John J. Lee Amphitheater of the Payne Whitney Gymnasium and were members of the Ivy League.
