2016–17 Austrian Regionalliga
The 2016–17 season of the Regionalliga was the 58th season of the third-tier football league in Austria, since its establishment in 1959. Regionalliga Ost Regionalliga Mitte Regionalliga West Direct promotion No team from the Regionalliga West or Ost applied for promotion, therefore the promotion play-offs were cancelled. Instead, only one team, the Regionalliga Mitte champion, was promoted to the Austrian Football First League. Relegation play-offs In relegation play-offs for the Regionalliga Ost, SKN St. Pölten II, as the worst placed second team in the East, had to compete against SV Mattersburg II since only four amateur teams are allowed in the regional league.' SK Vorwärts Steyr is an Austrian association football club based in Steyr. It was founded in 1919. They play at the Vorwärts Stadium. Currently the club has about 300 members. Is one of the oldest football clubs in Upper Austria. In 1999 the club went bankrupt and reformed in lower leagues later in 2001. Relegation Play-offs
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. The Wiener Sport-Club, sometimes abbreviated as WSC, was established in 1883 in Vienna, Austria and is one of the country's oldest athletics clubs. Their traditional home is in the Dornbach quarter of the city ( 17th district).
