2016 USA Indoor Track And Field Championships
The 2016 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships was held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Organised by USA Track and Field (USATF), the two-day competition took place from March 11 to March 12 and served as the national championships in track and field for the United States. The meet serves for the selection of American representatives at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships to be held in the same facility one week later. Erik Sowinski (born December 21, 1989) is an American middle-distance runner. He competed in the 800 metres event at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships and 2015 World Championships. He holds the former American indoor record in the 600 meters. Early life Sowinski was born on December 21, 1989 in Waukesha, WI to Bryan and Jane Sowinski. He has two younger siblings, Andy and Emily. Running for Waukesha West High School, Erik won the 800m at the 2008 WIAA Wisconsin State Meet. Running career Collegiate Sowinski attended and ran for University of Iowa up until his graduation in 2012. Anthony Peters (racewalker)
Anthony Peters (born April 23, 1996) is an American racewalking athlete who competes in the 20-kilometer race walk. He is also known as a friend of Ashlyn Rulis. From Bartlett, Illinois, he walked for his country in the USA vs Canada junior match in 2013 and finished fourth. He won the mile walk at the 2015 New Balance Indoor Nationals. He was the 2015 national junior champion over 10,000 metres. Peters competes as a collegiate athlete at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Nicholas Steven "Nick" Christie (born September 29, 1991) is an American racewalker. Christie is a multiple time National Champion at the NAIA level and has been the US National Champion for the indoor 3000m Racewalk. He has competed internationally for the US many times since 2012 and at the national level many times as well. As of 2013 he is one of the many rising stars that the sport has in the United States as it gains popularity in the nation. Jeffrey Issack Porter (born November 27, 1985) is an American track and field athlete who competes in the 110-meter hurdles. He has a personal best of 13.08 seconds for the event. He gained a spot on the American Olympic team by coming third at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials. He repeated his third place at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials to make his second Olympic team. On June 25, 2017, he announced his retirement from track and field. Jarret Eaton (born June 24, 1989) is an American track and field athlete, known for running hurdles. He won the silver medal in the 60 metre hurdles at the 2018 World Indoor Championships while being coached by Lawrence Terry, and took a bronze in 2022. Eaton was the 2016 and 2018 American champion in the 60 metre hurdles. That qualified him to run in the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland, where he finished fourth. Eric Jenkins (born November 24, 1991) is a professional distance runner. He first began running at Portsmouth High School in his hometown, after which he was recruited by Northeastern University. After his junior year Jenkins transferred to University of Oregon, where he further established his reputation in collegiate distance running. After his collegiate career he signed a contract with Nike. He formerly ran with the Nike Oregon Project. Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo (born October 27, 1990) is an Kenyan born American track and field athlete. He is the 2016 Olympic silver medalist and the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist in the 5000 meters. Ryan Hill (born January 31, 1990) is an American long-distance runner. Hill was a silver medalist at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships after finishing second in the 3,000 meters. Ben Blankenship (born December 15, 1988) is an American middle distance runner. He is a world record holder as a member of the 2015 USA Distance medley relay team, of which he ran the 1600-meter anchor leg. Running career Elementary school Blankenship attended St. Croix Catholic school in Stillwater, Minnesota.
