2016 UFL Cup
The 2016 United Football League Cup is the sixth edition of the United Football League Cup which started on February 6 and ended on April 9, 2016. There will be no guest teams with all competing teams also participating in the main UFL competition as per mandate by the Philippine Football Federation. All competing clubs also had to field teams for youth competitions to be organized by the UFL. The cup adopted a single round robin format with two groups followed by a knockout stage composing of the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final. There is also a foreign player limit of five in the matchday squad of each clubs. Kaya are the defending champions. Global won the 2016 UFL Cup defeating Ceres in the final. Alexander Borromeo
Alexander Charles Luis "Aly" Borromeo (born 28 June 1983) is an American-born Filipino retired footballer who played as a defender. He is currently a team manager for Kaya-Iloilo and was a long-time captain of the Philippines national team. Club career Borromeo joined Kaya in 1999, and has been the captain of the first team for several years during his tenure. He went on a loan to Global during the 2010–11 season and led the club to be the champions of the 2010 UFL Cup during that season. On October 15, 2011, in his first match for Kaya in the 2011 UFL Cup against Diliman, Borromeo incurred an ACL injury, which sidelined him for the club and the national team. Carlos Alberto Olaivar Martinez de Murga (born 30 November 1988), known as Carli de Murga, is a professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Malaysian club Johor Darul Ta'zim and the Philippines national team. Dennis Villanueva
Dennis Jaramel Villanueva (born April 28, 1992) is a Filipino professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or a left back for Thai League 1 club PT Prachuap and the Philippines national team. Omid Nazari ( fa, امید نظری, born 29 April 1991) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. His brother, Amin, also played for Omid's previous club, Malmö FF, in the Allsvenskan. Green Archers United Futbol Club, formerly known as Alabang Grins Futbol Club, was a Filipino professional association football club based in Lipa, Batangas, Philippines. Loyola Football Club is a Filipino association football club based in Metro Manila. The club has won one UFL Cup and one PFF National Men's Club Championship. Founded as Loyola Agila Football Club in 2006, the club changed its name to Loyola Meralco Sparks in 2011 after it was acquired by Meralco and the MVP Sports Foundation, both owned by multimillionaire Manny V.
