The Women's points race was held on 22 October 2016. 18 riders participated over a distance of 25 km (100 laps), with sprints every 10 laps awarding 5, 3, 2 or 1 point to the first four (double in the final sprint); 20 points are also awarded/withdrawn for each lap gained/lost respectively. UEC European Champion Jersey
The UEC European Champion jersey is the distinctive, identifiable jersey that the winner of a bicycle race receives at European Cycling Championships organized by the European Cycling Union (UEC), such as the European Road Championships and the European Track Championships. The jersey is predominantly blue with gold European stars. The jerseys are awarded in all cycling disciplines, including road cycling, track cycling, cyclo-cross, BMX, mountain biking and indoor cycling. The jerseys are provided by Santini SMS. Maria Giulia Confalonieri
Maria Giulia Confalonieri (born 30 March 1993) is an Italian track and road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's World Tour Team Uno-X Pro Cycling. She previously rode for UCI Women's Continental Team . As a Junior rider on the track, she won the points race at the 2011 UCI Junior Track World Championships. At under-23 level, Confalonieri won the scratch race at the 2013 UEC European Track Championships. On the road she competed at the 2013 UCI Road World Championships in the women's team time trial. Sara Ferrara
Sara Ferrara (born 24 July 1995) is a track cyclist from Finland. She was born in Monterrey, Mexico to a Mexican father and a Finnish mother. Sara Ferrara began her cycling career representing Mexico as a Junior. She won three gold medals, in the Omnium, Individual Pursuit, and Team Pursuit at the 2012 junior Panamerican championships in Guatemala. She holds the Junior Individual pursuit national record in Finland with a time of 2:26.5 as well as the U16 with a time of 2:30.1. She represented Mexico at the 2012 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Invercargill Championships as well as at the 2013 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships Glasgow.
