2016 Toronto Argonauts Season
The 2016 Toronto Argonauts season was the 59th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 144th season overall. The Argonauts finished in 4th place in the East Division with a 5–13 record and missed the playoffs for the second time in three years. It also marks the 2nd straight year the Grey Cup hosts have failed to make the playoffs after the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last season. After the Hamilton Tiger-Cats defeated the Ottawa Redblacks in overtime in week 18 on October 21, 2016, the Argonauts were eliminated from the playoffs while they were playing in the second quarter against the Calgary Stampeders. This was the team's fifth season under head coach Scott Milanovich, and the sixth under general manager Jim Barker. Canadian Football League East Division
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. Toronto Varsity Blues
The Toronto Varsity Blues is the intercollegiate sports program at the University of Toronto. Its 43 athletic teams regularly participate in competitions held by Ontario University Athletics and U Sports. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. DJ Sackey
David Junior Sackey (born September 6, 1993) is a professional Canadian football offensive lineman for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He won his first Grey Cup championship in 2017 with the Toronto Argonauts. He played CIS football for the Toronto Varsity Blues from 2012 to 2015. Brian Jones (born April 22, 1994) is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver and is the special teams coordinator for the York Lions of U Sports football. Bruce Campbell (American Football)
Bruce Campbell (born May 25, 1988) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Maryland. He is the son of the late former Providence College basketball great Bruce "Soup" Campbell. He has also been a member of the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Toronto Argonauts, and Saskatchewan Roughriders. 2016 CFL Draft
The 2016 CFL Draft took place on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 7:00 PM ET on TSN2 and RDS2. 70 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. The draft was expanded to eight rounds, which is the most since there were eight rounds in the 1992 CFL Draft. This draft also featured the most draft selections since 1987 when 72 players were drafted. Lawrence M. Tanenbaum (born 1945) is a Canadian businessman and chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE). He owns a 25% stake in MLSE through his holding company Kilmer Sports Inc.
