2016 Torneo Descentralizado
The 2016 Torneo Descentralizado de Fútbol Profesional (known as the 2016 Copa Movistar for sponsorship reasons) was the 100th season of the highest division of Peruvian football. A total of 16 teams competed in the season. Competition modus The season is divided into four phases. The first phase is the Torneo Apertura with all teams playing each other once either at home or away. The second phase is the Torneo Clausura with all teams entering this phase with their points won in the Torneo Apertura and all teams play each other once either at home or away. The third phase is the Liguilla phase with all teams entering this phase with the points they earned at the end of the Torneo Clausura. In this phase, the teams are divided into two groups and play each team in their group twice at home and away. The Peru First Division (; ''First Division'') —known as Liga 1 Betsson for sponsorship reasons and officially as Liga 1 — is the top flight of association football in Peru. It has been referred to as Torneo Descentralizado since 1966, when the first teams residing outside the Lima and Callao provinces were invited to compete in the inaugural league national competition. The main sponsor is the Spanish telecommunications brand Movistar. There are 20 teams in the division of a league that operates on a system of promotion and relegation determined at the end of the season with the Segunda División and the Copa Perú. A total of 16 teams competed in the season. Alianza Lima were the champions. Competition modus The season was divided into four phases, Torneo de Verano, Torneo Apertura, Torneo Clausura, and the Play-offs final. The first phase was the Torneo de Verano where all the teams were divided into two groups and played each team in their group twice at home and away. The winner of each group qualified to a double-legged, home-and-away final. The group winner with the most points in the aggregate table chose which leg they played as the home team. The winner of this tournament earned access to the second round of the 2018 Copa Libertadores as long as it was not relegated at the end of the season. Club Alianza Atlético de Sullana is a Peruvian football club, located in the city of Sullana, Piura. The club was founded in 1920 and promoted to the Peruvian Primera División in 1988. Ayacucho Fútbol Club is a Peruvian football club located in Ayacucho, Peru. Some of its former names are Aurora Miraflores, Olímpico San Luis, Olímpico Somos Peru, Olímpico Aurora Miraflores, Loreto and Inti Gas. As Olímpico Somos Peru, the club won a Second Division title in 2006, and as Inti Gas, the club finished as runner-up in 2008. 2015 Copa Perú
The 2015 Peru Cup season ( es, Copa Perú 2015), the largest amateur tournament of Peruvian football, started in February. This edition has featured a change, with the elimination of the Regional Stage and the inclusion of participants from all the Regions of Peru in the National Stage. Under the new format, the tournament has four stages. The first three stages are played as mini-league round-robin tournaments, and the fourth stage is played under POT System intellectual property of the MatchVision company. The 2015 Peru Cup started with the District Stage ( es, Etapa Distrital) in February. The next stage was the Provincial Stage ( es, Etapa Provincial) which started in June.
