2016 Toledo Rockets Football Team
The 2016 Toledo Rockets football team represented the University of Toledo in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by head coach Jason Candle in his first full overall year, after coaching the 2015 Boca Raton Bowl. They played their home games at the Glass Bowl and were members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 6–2 in MAC play to finish in second place in the West Division. They were invited to the Camellia Bowl where they lost to Appalachian State. Jason Candle
Jason Tyler Candle (born November 12, 1979) is an American football coach who is currently the head football coach at the University of Toledo. He had been an assistant at Toledo since 2009, and at Mount Union before that. Candle played wide receiver at Mount Union and Geneva. Playing career Candle was born in Salem, Ohio. He played wide receiver, first at Geneva College (1998–1999) and then at Mount Union (2000–2001). Both Mount Union teams he played on won the Division III championship. Candle graduated from Mount Union in 2003. Coaching career After graduating, Candle stayed on at Mount Union and joined the coaching staff as the wide receivers coach, a job he held from 2003–2006. In 2007, Mount Union promoted him to offensive coordinator, replacing Matt Campbell, who had joined the staff at Bowling Green. BCSN is a regional sports network founded in 2003 (and first went on the air on January 7, 2004) to carry sports broadcasting, which had previously been aired on fellow cable-only station WT05. Overview The station airs Toledo Mud Hens games, BGSU ice hockey and other BGSU sports, University of Toledo sports, high school sports including the Northwest Hockey Conference, college basketball, and other sports games. Rynearson Stadium, nicknamed "The Factory", is a stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. Currently, the stadium has seating for 30,200 people. Standing room is available in the south end zone, allowing for crowds larger than the listed capacity. The stadium is located on the school's west campus, just south of the Huron River. History The stadium held its first game on September 27, 1969, when EMU upset the University of Akron, 10–3.
