2016 TCU Horned Frogs Baseball Team
The 2016 TCU Horned Frogs baseball team represented Texas Christian University during the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Horned Frogs played their home games at Charlie & Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They were led by head coach Jim Schlossnagle, the winningest coach in TCU baseball history, in his 13th year at TCU. Previous season The 2015 TCU Horned Frogs baseball team notched a 51–15 (18–5) regular season record and were the regular season Big 12 Conference champions. For the second consecutive year, the Horned Frogs were selected as the #7 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, and the Frogs were selected to host an NCAA Regional against NC State, Stony Brook and Sacred Heart at their home park. Jim Schlossnagle
Jim Schlossnagle (born August 12, 1970) is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Texas A&M Aggies. He played college baseball at Elon from 1986 to 1989 for head coach Rick Jones. He then served as the head coach of the UNLV Rebels (2002–2003) and the TCU Horned Frogs (2004–2021). Schlossnagle has been named a National Coach of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in 2010 and by Baseball America in 2016, and he has won 8 conference Coach of the Year awards in his 16-year head coaching career. Early life and career Schlossnagle grew up in Smithsburg, Maryland, and attended Smithsburg schools. Luken Baker
Luken Grosvenor Baker (born March 10, 1997) is an American professional baseball first baseman in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Amateur career Baker attended Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas, alongside Durbin Feltman. In July 2014, he won the Junior Home Run Derby at Target Field. He later won the Home Run Derby at the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game. As a senior, he was named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. Baker was considered an early round prospect for the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, but emailed major league teams telling them that he would not sign and would instead attend Texas Christian University (TCU) to play college baseball.
